The Official Black Mirror Thread: Season 6 on Netflix Now

Anyone notice that the alert/notification tone is the same in every episode? It's like a subtle detail to show the audience that all episodes exist within the same universe. I also caught how there's a reference to "White Bear" in "Hated in the Nation".

Also, mind=blown @ the dude from the video game episode being Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's son.

There's more. In White Christmas they are tons

There are references to previous Black Mirror episodes in the special. In the beginning of the film, on the screen of Matt's computer where other people in the conference call are shown, one of users has the nickname "I_AM_WALDO", and another "Pie Ape". The Z-Eyes are reminiscent of a similar device in "The Entire History of You". Clips of TV shows from "The Waldo Moment" and "Fifteen Million Merits" are visible when Joe flicks through the TV channels. The pregnancy test Joe finds was the same one as in "Be Right Back". A ticker tape during a news report mentions the prime minister from "The National Anthem" as well as Victoria Skillane from "White Bear" and Liam Monroe from "The Waldo Moment". Bethany sings "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is", the same song that Abi sings in "Fifteen Million Merits".[6][

I can believe all eps take place on the same earth but not same time period. Sometimes tech is super advanced other times it's not.

Take the ep about merits for example and compare that to the Christmas special.

In some eps a handheld phone is still the main tech but in other entire computers fit in to contacts for your eyes.

I think they like putting little Easter eggs just for fun. Fifteen million merits would be like way in the future if that's where society ended up. Doesn't make sense then why we would see it in our near future shows from that far off one.

This. It's the super nerds that want it all to be in the same universe

It's a real good approach when not using magic, aliens, etc.

A grounded sci-fi tech take on the Twilight Zone.

I feel like we are on our way when it comes to some of the tech show,

The most chillling stuff is the way media affects us as a society but also how we can effect media. The Waldo effect though not as strong as the other episodes, it holds more weight topically after the last election.

hated in the nation hits on online bullying, cyber terrorism, social media mobs, online accountability. **** even drones and the fear that the right hacker with the wrong agenda could cripple us

i think of the show of being a commentary of the human condition (after all ), and how we use technology; i do kinda wish more the episodes had "positive" outcomes, even though i suppose quite a few of the endings could be positive or negative depending on how you look at it, because the general tone of the show seems like a kinda negative take on tech (& the affect if has on culture/people/society) even if it maybe doesn't intend to...

No doubt we're like 10 years away from some of the stuff on the show.

while the arc of technological development is hard to predict, i do think one of the better things about the show is how the believable/grounded each of the different episodes are...

The Jerkoff Blackmail episode was good. Messed up at the end though

I haven't watched it. But this really happened to someone I work with the other day [emoji]128557[/emoji][emoji]128557[/emoji], told my friend about it and he said it sounds like a black mirror episode.

He was targeted by some random person on facebook according to him, come on son, if some random girl messages you on FB telling you she just broke up with her bf and wants to chat with you on webcam, something fishy is obviously going on [emoji]128557[/emoji][emoji]128557[/emoji]

Your bro got got?

Word. That's something I'd take to the grave with me for real [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

This show is absolutely amazing. I mean every episode has had me locked in. Even S03 E05 was good although the twist is pretty obvious early. But the fact that that tech doesn't seem so far fetched is what makes me not dismiss the episode. Hell, the overall premise is something that already happens in society as is without MASS. (ex: The Holocaust, Tulsa Massacres, Haiti/DR relations). I do think it's possible this all occurs in the same universe, just separate time periods. I only say that because that song in 15M Merits is a recurring thing AND the show refered to in Nosedive.

Favorite Episode in an almost particular order:

White Bear (I mean this episode is absolutely nuts. It's sick and twisted. I can talk about this episode for hours. Easily my favorite.)
Entire History of You (You could totally see that being the new 'Let me see your phone'.)
Shut Up And Dance (You kinda feel bad about feeling sorry for Kenny)
NoseDive (I mean this isn't very far off. So many fake people trying to impress others. First episode I watched and it locked me in due to the parallels b/t FB, IG, Twitter, and SC)
White Xmas (It's good, but I don't think it's as great as everyone raves. May need a second viewing)
Be Right Back (She was right, that was not fair at all)
Playtest
San Junipero (So many subjects touched here within personal, moral and religious avenues)
The National Anthem (A ******* HOUR B!!!)
Man On Fire

I have S03 E06 lined up and ready to go this week. I can't wait.

TL;DR - I like the show....A LOT!

Watch "Black Mirror’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw On The Brilliantly '80s World Of 'San Junipero'" on YouTube

Aside from 'Shutup and Dance' and 'White Bear' the episodes I've watched have been meh.

Any recommendations?

watched the san junipero episode last night...had me all in my feels...i put my wife on the show and and she already watched all 3 seasons this week...
