Part-Time Job @ Finish Line?

College can teach you everything you think you might need to know, except how to work with people & how to hustle. Case in point here.
Not sure where you got I don't know how to work with people or hustle? Just wanted to get peoples input on if I could work a couple shifts a month at a sneaker store.

honestly i worked at shoe store small mom & pop pt at first then was just working saturdays after i got reg 9-5  . 35% off retail price no exceptions , seem great til i realized it was a trap i started to spend more & more dont do it . Home Depot is good to u

Exactly

Why do you think they give you the discount? Why do they require you to wear their shoes while working? It's a money trap. You end up working for cheap shoes and no paycheck

I'm all for being condescending, and sarcasm is one of my best talents, but some of these comments are sickening.

I think some of you have forgotten this is supposed to be a sneaker board.

I guess the OP should be glad some of you decided to get off your high horse and even respond.

You sound hurt b

Good stuff OP , got a couple homies that work at DuPont. Good money. Repped.

Edit : I think it'll be better to just stack up and do overtime where you're at. That sneaker addiction fades a bit after a while bro.

What's funny is my first job ever when I was 17 was working for Finishline in San Jose. I was given 4-5 hours a week so my bi weekly paycheck would come out to something like 45 dollars after taxes. If I bought a starbucks frapp after work, that would bring me down to 40 dollars left and then I'd use that money to buy hats/etc at finishline with my discount. I tutored on the side so that was my main source of allowance back then but I didn't understand how I was getting 4 hours a week from Finishline. I honestly hated it. Always trying to make people buy socks and shoe cleaners and yeah...I left after about 2 months.

Don't do it bro. Not worth the discount and just focus on your career and see where that takes you. Always think about the bigger picture. You could use that extra 20 hours you have to think of other ways you can improve yourself for your career. Maybe that could lead to something where you don't ever have to even worry about buying shoes at resell prices every release instead of working part time to get the discount. No shame in working at a shoe store but if your goal is just to work for a discount and you have a career path already, focus on your career more.

I know footlocker, inc. is always looking to fill positions at their corporate office in Manhattan. I interviewed with them last year for a position as a construction PM. Corporate employees get discounts as well. Unfortunately, I just didn't have enough experience so they went with someone else. It would be worth looking into. Plus they also have a gym at their corporate office. See link below for available openings.
