Lived in WPB for the past 3 years, and quite honestly it was boring as hell. Miami is alright, but outside of South Beach it's meh. The downtown area sucks. Bayside by the AAA is the only cool little outside meeting area. Like others have said Coral Gables, Brickell, etc are cool but they're 40 minutes south of the "city". If I was still there I'd probably have moved to Ft. Lauderdale (the happy medium) or O-Town. The women in Orlando >>>>>>>>> but glad I made the decision to come to the left coast. LA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My best friend purchased a home in Orlando in 2013, and now he wants to sell it and move back home to Northeast Ohio.

He enjoyed the beginning part of residing there, probably due to the new scenary and everything that comes with it, but since than he's always mentioning wanting to sell his home - only dilemma he faces is that the development he lives is still constantly buidling new homes in that same area, so he can't find someone to buy it without him taking a 15-20k loss on it - for the simple fact that the development is buiding the exact same home structures in that area and selling them for lower than what he paid for his.

Based on what he's told me, the worst part of Orlando is that you virtaully need to drive 15 min away at the very least, just to get somewhere...and that "somewhere" being a grocery store, mall, barbershop, friends house, (if they live outside of his development), etc. Here in Cleveland, you can literally walk to anywhere, and our public transportation is one of the best in the country. In Orlando, he's dealing with the complete opposite.

He told me if he knew life was that pretty slowed down and boring, he would've moved down there when he was 47, not 27....but hey, I guess you live and you learn..

Worst city ever, had a family reunion up there during the 1st Lebron era, worst time of my life. Never setting foot back in Ohio if I can help it.

Its true tho, Downtown and South Beach is what they show on TV. But theres nice places in Kendall/Pinecrest/Brickell/Coral Gables for a fee. People do front a lot like they are big timing but I'm sure they do that in every city. I think if you were born in 305/954 you can deal with it but if you are in a nice place with nice weather....stay away from the attitudes here.

Your friend probably bought at one of those KB Homes type developments way the hell out in the burbs. Downtown, Thornton Park, Delaney, College Park and Winter Park are all the ****. Phenomenal bars, amazing women, good restaurants, good people, and a relatively low cost of living. What more could a young professional ask for? Oh... and no state income tax.

I lived in Miami for the majority of 2013. I stayed in Brickell which is really where I would most prefer to live down there out of all areas. Kendall is cool like others have said but kind of far from stuff that you would want to do. Usually going out we would hit spots in Brickell, Coconut Grove and Midtown. This spot Epic has a dope happy hour with a great view over the bay. Definitely my favorite city in terms of women because there is such a variety and you literally see bad joints every day. And as a young educated black male I was like an alien down there . All in all though I love MIami, especially the food and the Latin/Caribbean culture. You definitely would want to know Spanish if you living down there because it really is like the first language. And just because you have darker skin doesn't mean that people won't expect you to speak it. Planning on moving back down this year for like another year or so. I'm from DC though so cost of living down there is much better to me for living in comparable areas. I would assume Texas would be considerably cheaper.

Miami is wack, I lived in downtown Miami for a few months. It's great for vacation, not so great for living. First of all everyone there feels the need to show off every single day, rented cars everywhere, restaurants charge automatic gratuity because south beach is mostly tourists who don't tip.

Like the guy said here before the clubs man if you don't pull up with a lambo, ferrari or whatever you're wack. All the ballers come and show out and all the chicks flock to the a list celebs. No one here works, there is no jobs, you're either a trust fund kid or a retired person. There is no good jobs.

I'm just speaking as an average joe for now because I am no millionaire. I am sure Miami is amazing when you have money to burn. It just has this fake facade to it, from the restaurants to the clubs to the girls ****.

Miami is the ****, yea we show off but aint nothing wrong with a lil stunting on purpose, **** i got homies who're guilty as hell for renting benz/beamers an sliding through the city, but did it get them yambs for the night? you damn right! >D Miami is filled with superficial chicks on expired visas from some type of 3rd world country.. they dont care if a car is leased or rented them **** just want "una photo'.. As far as the clubs go, you tourist are about the only people getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the night life ect. LIV,. Its all about who knows you and for some of us locals who're there every weekend or two its nothing to get familiar with a bouncer, shot girl or know someone with the connects to get you into where you wanna go.

Lol the Ohio slander is too corny. And dudes don't even come up with good reasons. I loved Columbus in my 10+ years of living there.

Born, raised and still living in Dade County

Best quote I ever heard about Miami: Sunny place for shady people

Got a lot of fake people trying to be somebody they aren't

The idea that you "you have to know Spanish" is exaggerated.

No one here works, there is no jobs, you're either a trust fund kid or a retired person. There is no good jobs.

They probably do illegal ****.

what's wrong with living in Florida?

Absolutely nothing. It is a great placeto leave, if you have a good job and can offard to live somewhere decent. Most people who hate it are the ones who come to Miami and want to leave that "Miami" that they see in the videos. I will say that if you aren't established (have connections, or have things that make you hireable), you will have a really bad time.
Listen to this man....he a zoe...he a killa for real...robbin ships n ****

I went to college in Miami, there was more stuff to do on campus then there was outside of campus.

Ft. Lauderdale is 30-45min away. Coming from Kendall (West Miami-Dade; to Downtown or South Beach) it use to be 15-20, but now its probably closer to 30min. It's not a very convenient place to live at all, regardless if you live downtown or the suburbs. I'm from NYC, so it was like going to the country for me, and even though I had a car I felt like I had to drive at least 15min to ANYTHING.
