Anyone ever done club/lounge promotions?

So I have a friend who does club/lounge party promoting in my area.  We had a talk recently and he wants me to start doing promotions for one night a week(a Wednesday).

He says that we will take care of a table and the first bottle every Wednesday. Just wants me to show up with my boys/girls, party and try and get more people into the spot.

This caught me off guard because ive NEVER once thought about doing this. I dont even like the spotlight like that.. always thought it was kinda corny to get a table on random wednesday/thurs nights. Plus im just a chill dude, not really liking to be "on the scene".

I figure my boy is asking me because he either feels im the best man for it, or he just hasnt read my personality well.  I'm kinda on fence because i do like to party, get in free, skip lines etc(althought im NEVER at anyones "table".. always do my own thing).. and i really dont wanna burn that bridge w/him.. but at the same time.. cant see myself "forcing" a party every wednesday either.

Anyone here ever do the promoter thing?  stories? feedback?
