Manny did try to engage recklessly a couple times... But Floyd's straight right hand pretty much neutralized that method. As it has done to many of Floyd's opponents in the past.

Floyd's straight right always comes out the same and can land on the body or head so it's very hard to try to predict where it's gonna go. He disguises it real well. If and when a couple of those land clean on your temple and/or rib cage that's when you come to senses and pick your spots.

Thanks for the tip. Google led me to http://www.thesweetscience.com/news...w-he-did-it-mayweathers-scintillating-display
So the danger of the straight right and it being disguised by the soft lead jab kept Manny at bay? I assumed the soft lead jab was to maintain distance, didn't even think of the effect on the opponents vision.

Probably can't eem see the computer screen through all them tears.

I'm here! Like I said before, I predicted Mayweather to win this fight. I was stating that some of yall were saying that Pacquiao wasn't on his level which I strongly disagree regardless of the outcome. He wouldn't be in this position having everyone by the PPV, My argument was that. Y'all pointed out like he's a bum, etc, etc. don't get that twisted Because I'm filipino. Mayweather gave him looks that makes him double think about wanting to take risks. Watching the post fight tells me there might be a 2nd fight due to Pacquiaio's right shoulder injury 3 weeks ago and in the third round re-injuring it. I personally think Floyd should retire and go on a high note. 50 cent and diddy are eatin of their bets. I enjoyed the fight even though it was boring. Lol.

I'm getting the feeling it's a good thing I didn't go on Twitter last night  :smh:

Hate when the ugliness of people comes out

Toddlers not understanding there was a fight last night and waking up early...FML

I'm still wondering when people are going to realize video games and WWE aren't real
I watched the fight at my friends from high school house, and it was all his family and his wife's family.
The women there didn't know a lot about boxing, but the high definition made it easy for them to see that 90% of Pacquiao's punches weren't effective.
Watching the fight with people who didn't really care who won was actually pretty entertaining.
They were cracking jokes all night and just enjoying the moment.

On a side note my neighborhood must have been fight party headquarters, because every street was packed with cars.
When I came back home it was 30 cars deep at the traffic light that leads you back to the freeway.

YUP... Floyd's jab sets up the straight right perfectly too. It's a very deadly combo.

Floyd's jab is like a irritating mosquito that won't go away and just when you think you have it figured out ... Then out comes the straight right.

I think once Floyd seen Marquez knock Pacquiao out with the same exact punch he knew he had to make the fight. Floyd's straight right hand is his bread and butter. It's one of the reasons why he hasn't ever lost a fight.

And finally I read through a good chunk of this thread, you Mayweather fans are annoying as hell. Not the ones celebrating their dude winning, but the dudes telling the casuals to stay clear. The casuals are the ones that made this fight the event that it was. The more casuals that watch, the more boxing fans are produced which the sport is in need of. Reminds me of soccer elitists when i first started watching

The issue isnt telling casuals to steer clear. Its more about actually trying to learn about the sport rather then just assuming every fight is meant to be a slug fest. Boxing right now is as accessible as it has ever been and if all you wanna do is watch one fight and judge it off of what u thought was gonna happen keep the it's boring he ran all fight comments to urself.

if you watch soccer u shud def understand this especially with draws that are 0-0

Imo

I think part of Mays strategy in the early rounds was to sit on the ropes and let Manny throw flurrys and get excited. So Manny would remember that feeling as the fight progressed ,in the later rounds he would lead him back to the ropes only to tie him up or quickly move away from the ropes take him back center ring and keep his jabs and counters sharp..

That strategy in later rounds took the aggression out of Manny and ruined his set ups.

I enjoyed how much the crowd were being fooled by those flurries of punches Manny was throwing. All the cheering and chanting was hilarious cause they were clearly oblivious to the fact that nothing was connecting  May weather would carefully sneak in a punch or two and would continue playing defense. Had this been the UFC, the judges wouldn't been fooled by Manny's flurries and early aggression. In the latter round, that aggression slowed. There's no way he should've thought he won that match.

It's crazy the only way to beat Mayweather is land first then make him be the aggressor. Manny was willing to collect last night I got super wasted but from what I saw.... You can not stand still with May and expect to win. Manny played it super safe and just collected cash.

Stop it. As long as you can hide your hate behind culture and religion - it's allllll good.

I'm assuming you support DV since you're a Mayweather fan? I'm assuming you think it's okay to abuse your wife repeatedly over several years?

See how stupid that sounds?

Juan Manuel Marquez said before the fight, "Pacquiao will be thinking about my right hand."
Once Floyd started connecting with that straight right it was obvious Pacquiao didn't want to taste that canvas again.

What's crazy is that floyds post fight interviews we're literally the opposite of what everyone thinks of him

Dude was very gracious in his win, gave props to his opponents, and thanked everyone involved several times.

Then pac talmbout I had a shoulder injury.

If you knew nothing about either person, you'd look at pac like a sore losing jerk

And it's AMAZING the pass he gets...

Floyd was nothing but respectful through the lead up to the fight.

I'm very pleased with the results, and bask in the Ls showering down as people show their saltiness

Mayweather, a counterouncher, threw more punches than his opponent. Boring boxing match if you want to even call it that.

There are times when Floyd has been blatant running away from the fight but this wasn't one of them. Floyd has been booed by the crowd in other fights for blatant running, which is not boxing and is bad for the sport. Manny had plenty of opportunities all night to bang with Floyd but didn't.

2 boxers waiting for the other to throw a punch all night makes for a mediocre fight.

The Spurs-Clippers game was way more entertaining.

Who would have bought this fight if they knew going into it, Manny would throw less punches than Floyd?

I still can't believe Freddy roach try to out box Mayweather -_-
Naw Roach didn't want his golden calf getting knocked the foock out in front of 100 million people, so he told him to stay out of range of that straight right.
Roach talked noise to make us think he was training Pacquiao to be the aggressor, but he had dude waiting on Floyd to bring the fight and that was a UNANIMOUS mistake

Told yall Pacquiao and Roach were going to take the money and run.
I personally believe the stage was too big for Pacquiao and Roach.
Mayweather fights are a circus. I'm sure Pacquiao was mentally drained by this past Wednesday or Thursday.
Floyd even complained about it and he is the circus ringmaster.
So imagine how mentally exhausted Pacquiao was by the fourth or fifth round
I'm happy Pacquiao got his money because dude is literally feeding an entire country with his paychecks.

Someone said it best on Deadspin:

Manny wasn't willing tonight. He refused to engage Floyd. He was unwilling to press. He was willing to lose.

All there is to it.

********.

manny paid for every risk he took.
People just don't know how hard it is to execute a plan when your having mini black outs from a right hand in your face

manny tried, he got worked by PBF.every unsound technical shot from manny was answered with skill and precision.
Mike Tyson "everyone has a plan til they get punched in the face"

Boxers need health meters in the future like knockout kings b

The way that you recover every round, I'm pretty sure each round they woulda started with their health meter on full.
