That's great and all E but then 2 hours later we are gonna read....

"LA Clippers and C DeAndre Jordan in talks finalizing and deal at 5 years for the maximum offer"

Doesn't mean you don't talk to Robin Lopez, or Tobias Harris.. And let them know of your interest.

But a good meeting where you actually give him the keys to the franchise couldn't hurt

Man how much 12 hours changes things lol

Pretty much.. We all went into panic mode lolz

It honestly feels like the front office really does need a change... New way of thinking I think everyone in the league is anti Jim buss

Here would be my honest pitch to DeAndre Jordan if I'm Mitch Kupchak..

We are truly amazed at what you've done with the Clippers. You came out of nowhere as a 2nd Round pick to become the premier defensive big man in the league. You did this through hard work, dedication, and a belief in yourself. You were an indispensable part of making the Clippers an annual title contender over the last few years. And we want you to do the same for the Los Angeles Lakers.

We understand that we are not in the same position as the Clippers, but there are certainly things that we believe we can offer you that no other team can.

The Lakers are the center of attention in LA, and therefore you become the center of attention for the Lakers.

We have a young roster, but one that we believe is perfectly developed around you. One of your biggest assets is that you are a big man who gets down the court in a hurry. We have Clarkson, Russell & Randle all guys who can rebound and push the ball uptempo that gives you easier looks, more touches, and more involvement in the offense.

You would be the most experienced player with exception of Kobe. We would rely on your leadership, and your voice to help take us to the next level.

Kobe is at the end of the line in his career. We wish he was 30 still, because adding you means a title. But this is his last season. This will be your team. Not Julius Randle, Not D'Angelo Russell, Not Jordan Clarkson. It will be DeAndre Jordan's team. We will be building around DeAndre Jordan. In 2016, we are selling Free Agents on playing with you first.

We want DeAndre Jordan as the Lakers franchise player.

And the Lakers have a vast network of former greats who will help you in any way that they can.

The Lakers are a family run organization, we treat our coaches, players, and the entire staff as a family. We want DeAndre Jordan to be apart of this family.

That's the best pitch you could give to a guy who wants a bigger role.

This summer is shaping up to be worse than last summer. Expectations were so high for a big free agent signing

They need to start pitching the beaches and weather more smh

Is Booz still available? Kidding not kidding

This is not worse  than last summer we have a young foundation now. I'm just disappointed with the front office being stuck in the past.

you want to sell someone on something. You tell them everything they want to hear with enough of what you want sprinkled in. So it basically sounds like to the player "I get everything I want out of this."

Lakers have to study why players want to leave and use their entire pitch dedicated to showing the player's vision within your team.

That's why you lie, and tell DeAndre it's your team. You become the leader. We build around you. You have a bigger role on the court.

Is it true? Asterisk no.

But it's what he wants to hear, and what he's looking for.

Sure, but we can't insult the guys intelligence. From all reports he loves getting the attention he's receiving though, but that pitch is way too outlandish. But hey maybe he truly believes that.

However, the main issue is, it's tough to sell the basketball side of things right now. You can't sell them on Randle, Russell, Clarkson. They're way too young and have shown nothing. You can't sell them on Kobe. He's been hurt two seasons straight. All you can sell them on is potential/the possibility of everything clicking/the future.

This was honestly expected. I do wish we went after guys like Danny Green, Tyson (not for 4 years though which he got), Carroll, etc, because it's way too tough to entice a Deandre or Aldridge. The fact that Aldridge was 50/50 on the Lakers is actually a great sign to me at least. What exactly can the Lakers sell basketball wise, yet Aldridge is 50/50 on picking them over a team that just won a championship last year.

Yes I get it and agree the Lakers have a bigger window than the Spurs. What happens when Parker breaks down which he already is doing and Duncan/Manu retire. However, Aldridge is already 30. He also has a small window.

Basically, we need the young guys to show their potential this year and then free agents will be intrigued. It's the price we pay for losing all those games. We get a gem in Russell, but we have very little leverage in getting guys we want.

On another note, who here is high on Tarik Black? I feel like he is going to be a great role player. Dude was great last year for us. He's a cheaper and younger Ed Davis to me. Super happy about him.

I don't recall the Lakers signing any big free agent names since Shaq, Malone and Payton. They usually pull off blockbuster trades than this.

Oh well, I can't wait until summer league and preseason start. Thank goodness they Kobe farewell tour will kickoff in Hawaii. It's been too long :D

It's one thing to be told no. But not good form to embarrass an organization. That's what's happening here
