Well I'm hoping for the best tomorrow both career wise for me and the future of the Lakers.

Just sucks that my damn 3 year old Panasonic 55" plasma TV broke while I was in the process of moving, and now my uncle who's been a TV repair man all his life is fixing it and it's just talking awhile to get the replacement parts.

Not sure where I'm going to go to watch the ping pong balls tomorrow night.

So this is where the KG story came from:

Phil Jackson: Dr. [Jerry] Buss came to me and said, "I have a handshake agreement with Glen Taylor (Timberwolves Owner), that he's going to come to L.A. But Kevin McHale hasn't concurred yet." So I said, "Well that's a good excuse." You always, as an owner, say, "I'll do this, but …" So I kept that hope out there, that he was gonna be a part of the Laker organization.

The Lakers offered a package built around multi-skilled forward Lamar Odom and 19-year-old center Andrew Bynum, a promising second-year player who would eventually become an All-Star. Odom had a history of flaky behavior, however, and Bynum was unproven.

Glen Taylor: Odom, I was a little afraid of. I thought Bynum was gonna be a star. It became the Lakers, and it became Boston. And they both said, what does [Garnett] want to get paid? And I told them what he wants to get paid. I told them the kind of contract. And those two teams said they would do it.

On July 31, 2007, the Timberwolves sent Garnett to Boston, in exchange for Al Jefferson, four other players and two first-round picks. Many experts considered the Lakers' offer of Odom and Bynum to be the stronger package. The deal between Ainge and McHale, close friends and former Celtics teammates, stoked suspicion that McHale was acting more in the interests of his former franchise.

Phil Jackson: I've always kind of hinted that, in fun. Of course, it's easier to make a deal with someone you know. But the (main) thing was, get him out of the conference, get him to the East Coast, get him away from us, so we don't have to deal with him four times a year. So that makes sense. So that's understandable.

Basically KG didn't get traded to the Lakers because 2 former C's teammates c*ck blocked the trade.

This why when you compare the PAU deal to the Lakers and KG to the Celtics it's funny how people forget and don't see the shadyness of the tha KG deal to Boston.

Oh yeah and it was nuts the the lengths Laker fans were going to recruit him to the Lakers

There was a full on dedicated website for it. I think lakersnation.com was originally getkg.com and then changed to lakersnation.com after KG was traded to Boston

Crazy times.

If you have the Watch ESPN app it should be on there mr j 858 mr j 858

Nope. I got Directv and for years for god knows why they don't have an agreement with ESPN to use watch ESPN :smh:

I still love Directv though.Compared to Cable or any of the Telco TV providers. Just also not happy about this merger thats likely going to get approved with AT&T buying out Directv :smh:

Lakers radio talk shows and sports talk radio in LA has really not been to good the past couple of years when ESPN 710 LA became home of the Lakers.

I liked it better when they were on 570AM and you had Vic Da Brick, Petros & Matt Money Smith, and even lame a*s annoying as hell Steve "Hater" Hartman.

Max Kellerman "By the way, we are going to talk to Corey Maggette. Mt. Rushmore of Clippers. Corey Maggette is one of the 4 greatest Clippers of All-Time. You got Darius Miles, Randy Foye. We couldn't find a 4th."

Looks like Mark Willard got a job over there at 570. I always liked him.

I just got off the phone with one my sources. The number 1 pick is signed, sealed, and delivered. KAT will be the next great Laker big man.

I feel like the more that we all talk about it, the more we might jinx it
Man.......I remember those Kobe + KG dreams we had in this thread back then. :frown:

With Phil too. Man.
So do we still do Marc/Kwame for Pau? :nerd:
No, which is why it gets so sexy.

Kobe/KG was a ton of money, Pau wouldn't have fit.

How, ever...... Had WEEEE been the ones to develop Marc Gasol, with KG at PF, and kept Kwame as backup big, Critt as young up and coming PG, and our 08-10 draft picks, and with any luck, Mitch still pulls off the Ariza deal......

Marc Gasol
KG
Ariza
Kobe
Farmar/Critt (maybe Fish comes back still, maybe not.

That defense. Marc, KG, Ariza, Kobe????????? :wow: :smokin

Would have changed a lot of things. We coulda pulled the Cassell's, the PJ Brown's, the Posey's.

But, we did alright. I'm still pissed Bynum/Ariza were hurt for the 08 Finals, and I still hate how 2011 broke for us. We had HC, a "soft" Dallas squad, up 16 late 3rd of game 1, but Phil's health, Kobe's knee, Barnes, Pau's vaginal lining, Fisher's age, and 3 straight Finals all caught up at once. :smh:

damn what could have been

kobe-kg-marc

critt shoots and kills kwame over something dumb and goes to jail (two birds with one stone)

we win 3-4 championships instead of 2 and still have marc to build around right now
