Apparently he had a string of tweets after that one that had really positive things about Kobe.
I hate when Twitter is important in sports :lol: and the losers that dig those old tweets up.

The Lakers worked out Russell twice. The first by himself, the second in a three-on-three-scrimmage.

Russell was strong in his first meeting, but really blew them away in the group setting.

"When he came back and he went three-on-three, you saw the leadership qualities that he had," said Scott. "You saw the ability he had to pass the ball and make other guys better, the ability to get to the basket, the ability to knock down threes."

What do you guys feel about the starting rotation for the beginning of the season? Anyone think kobe might move to the 3 to allow clarkson to stay in the lineup? Assuming no big trade moves of course.

Hey if he turns out to be the crazy combo of Steph and Beard that everyone is raving he'll be then obviously it'll be a great pick, hopefully that vision is able to be on full display from Day 1.

I think the problem is more about who is around him to pass the ball. A big trade move is coming though, there is no incentive for the lakers to suck another year considering that the pick currently belongs to the sixers
 
Kobe is going to play 3 more for the sake of giving him more rest from expending more energy against athletic wings and giving time to Russell and Clarkson to develop together. I expect Clarkson to take back some time at PG and Kobe move back to the 2 when Russell sits.
 
Kobe next season should be limited to only 28 to 32 minutes max while playing both the 3 & 2.

He's going to work mainly down low on the block posting up. But Byron has to be careful on wearing him down using him that way also.
 
Most of the athletic wings are 3s though. 2 guard is a much weaker position outside of Beard and Klay. It'd be a mistake to put Kobe at the 3 this year in my opinion, bring Clarkson off the bench he'll flourish better that way anyway. I don't know what they do with the 3 if they get one of the bigs in FA, which is why them passing on RJ is so puzzling. Nance isn't a pressing need.

Splitting him at 2/3 gives him 30+ minutes and frankly I think he'd welcome some more time on the bench if he sees the team is able to handle stretches without him. I'm sure he knows that he needs to conserve to play throughout the season.

2's are going to be quicker I think. Kobe can add weight and control the 3's with his footwork and shot. He's not going to lock anyone down at any spot on the court but his anticipation defensively I think is better suited to a bigger 3 than quicker 2.

Kobe this season wanted a max of 32 minutes. Byron thought he could handle more. 

For all the people hating the Russell pick, I'll say this. Russell has certain basketball qualities that can't be taught or developed. Watch a few games and you'll see he figures out plays 2 or 3 steps before anyone else. He's pointing to his teammates were do be in order to get their open shots. His feel for the game can't be taught simple as that and it's a ridiculously exciting prospect.

His passing ability is insane. He sets up guys so easily for easy shots.

The only cons about him that need to be fixed are his reliance on his left hand and his tendency to settle for jumpers too much. He doesn't drive to the rim as much as I like and when he does there's times where he doesn't know when to stop and just take the quick mini pull up or controlled floater.

dude was cool with missing games due to over usage in the beginning of the year. dont think he will have any problems. kobes not stupid, he knows what time it is. 

im happy with the pick wanted the big dude but we needed a guard. cant complain. so excited for the season. we need a center. not lma. Mitch already has everything planned out.

extremely excited about the young guys we got and i can't wait to see them develop.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said the team has spoken to one of its first-round draft picks about a tweet the player sent out in 2012 that referred to a sexual assault case involving Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant.

The tweet, which has since been deleted, was published May 1, 2012, on the account belonging to Larry Nance Jr., a forward from the University of Wyoming whom the Lakers selected 27th overall in Thursday's NBA draft.

It read: "Gee I sure hope Kobe can keep his hands to himself in Denver this time." It also included the hashtag "#rapist."

Bryant was involved in a 2003 sexual assault case in Colorado, in which the charges were later dropped. A woman accused Bryant of raping her in his hotel room, but the case was dropped after she refused to testify. A civil suit was later settled, and Bryant publicly apologized. though he admitted no guilt in the matter.

"I've spoken to Larry Nance Jr. with John Black, our public relations director," Kupchak said. "Really, I'm not in a position to really share information. But it is something that they will have to discuss amongst the two of them.

"My understanding is that it's something that happened years ago, and in today's world, things don't go away, which really doesn't make it any less offensive because it was said 3-4 years ago."
