So you're saying you draft someone at 2. Who plays the position of the guy we drafted last year at 7. And hope he fills out to maybe, hopefully be able to play the 5?

That's horrible decision making.

Even if he becomes the best player in the draft 5 years from now. The Lakers have no reason to take him.
Nah i didn't say draft him at all I was simply asking the question.

He'd have to put on a lot of weight to play the 5. Otherwise, he'd get killed down low defensively and on the boards.

And who knows how that impacts his ability to play the perimeter.

What about this guy screams superstar?  I see a slightly below average athlete who can't create his own shot.

Let me ask you this.... if we fell at #4 or #5 in the lottery, would you feel the same way about Kris?

Or is the fact that we have a chance at Jah make him look worse in your eyes?

It's about putting a team together. Drafting Kris doesn't address gaps, whether we're picking second or fifth. If we found ourselves with him at the fifth slot and our desired players are gone I'd rather trade down and get something in return for someone to take him.

My idea of drafting goes in a few ways.

1. Best Talent
2. Needs
3. Does this player hurt current assets
4. Floor & Ceiling and my opinion on chance of hitting his ceiling
5. Then extra stuff

I have about 5-6 guys ahead of Kristaps.
He doesn't fit needs. Projected as a PF.
He either has his growth stunted by Julius due to not getting enough playing time, or it wastes Julius.

Yes.  He is a less athletic Frank Kaminsky.  The only reason people are saying he should be drafted so high is because they haven't been able to pick him apart like they can with college players.

Is what the blazers said in the 1984 draft.

Not saying he's going to be a great player but I always subscribe to the idea of

taking the best player available. If Mitch thinks he's the BPA, then take him.

Mitch has a good track record and I trust him to take the BPA.

I trust Mitch and Jesse will make the pick that best serves us.

I'm still confident that we're gonna end up with Okafor at 2.
All this extra reporting is just smoke screens.

Kristaps would be my one and only straw needed to be on Team Fire Mitch and Team Buss Sell the Team..

I could listen to justification and reason if Russell was taken over Jahlil.. I get it, the current skill + potential is there. Mudiay you'd be losing me because while I think he is as good as Russell currently, he doesn't have the versatility that could take Russell up 3-4 more notches and make him a formidable player in the league.

Now if we pick Russell, he doesn't hit his peak, and Okafor goes and tears it up. Then I'll be here with a lot of I told you so's.

On the other hand, if Kristaps is taken... I'm done.

So when do we start hearing of these Trades and potential Trades, after the Finals is over?

I really want the Lakers one of the two late picks for something.

Lakers #2 and #27 for Minny #1 is my pipe dream.

Pls Mitch!

Go Lakers!

Bargs I would say Rubio also

Neither one of them are stars

Won't happen.

I doubt they'd even accept the 27 and the 34 for the first pick too.

Id think the best thing for us is to keep our assets and test the free agent market... Unless we receive an acceptance or offer on a classic laker heist trade.

Relax y'all, management just doing their due diligence evaluating all the top prospects...you don't wanna leave any stone unturned. I mean, we aren't in this position often...and we shouldnt be. So it's only right that management looks at everything. Trust the process. Mitch has drafted WELL in the past. I have no doubt they'll get this one down on Draft Day.
