Lakers News: Ed Davis Won’t ‘Chase Money’ And Wants To Return

One of the few players on the Los Angeles Lakers roster that made a considerable impact during the 2014-15 NBA season is newcomer Ed Davis. Los Angeles was able to ink Davis to a two-year deal last summer in a surprising move that no one saw coming.

During his exit interview on Thursday, Davis talked about his future saying the following, via Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News: Ed Davis; "I'm not out here to chase money. I just want to be in a great situation."

Davis also expressed his desire to stay with the Lakers, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:Ed Davis wants to be a Laker next year: "I hope so. This is where you want to be.”

As arguably one of the most consistent players on the Lakers during the 2014-15 NBA season, Davis proved his worth and will definitely get a lot of consideration in terms of being re-signed.

Obviously, the moves made in NBA free agency and through the draft will help determine the team needs moving forward. Davis has a great chance of being retained on a long-term deal, but nothing is for certain and the North Carolina product could be headed elsewhere if both sides can’t see eye-to-eye this summer

Let's see what happens. I would like to see him back.

This one's not on him... but he just seems unlucky. The Byron gif potential of the Lakers being #6 is almost too easy to picture :frown:

I live in Oregon, so, I could make a case if needed....

I don't give a **** today, the Star Wars trailer is out, not even the Lakers can ruin my day by sending that worthless mother ****** to the biggest event we've had since 2010.

Star Wars *****, **** you Byron.

It's about being represented by an excellent representative, which he is not.

But what does

LMAO an excellent representative. It's a lottery. You could put a broom in the spot and it wouldn't affect anything.

I got it...Byron is not a great coach. But lord it really isn't even funny any more. :smh:

Re: ed davis - talk is cheap. Not saying he won't/doesn't want to stay but I'm not putting any weight into words spoken to a microphone

Byron might actually be good luck. How many #1 picks did he fetch in Cleveland :nerd:

you guys are from cali tho, so it should be "you guys will blame the lack of rain on byron wont you

"

Ah, Byron's Cleveland stint is actually promising. But then again they didn't send him to the lottery to "bask" in his "work"

We all realize it doesn't have any real effect on the ping pong balls. I just don't wanna play with fate like that

I don't like that Byron is our rep at the lotto, but whatever, I hope he brings home the #1-5 pick.

I'd like Davis to come back and let's see if he takes a pay cut like his words are implying. But money talks, we all know that.

And I don't want us to get DeAndre. He can stay with the Clippers and get that money. I don't see him doing any better or as well for us without CP3 feeding him and thriving off Blake's jumpers.

@LakersReporter Kupchak said that when recruiting free agents, LAL focus on the future, and don't rely upon the history and legacy of the franchise.
@LakersReporter 1/2: Kupchak on using/not using cap space: "We don't want to use our cap room to win 40 games, which doesn't get you into the playoffs."
@LakersReporter 2/2: Kupchak's focus, as always in building a team, is to use 1) the Draft; 2) Free agency; 3) Trades. All works together.
@LakersReporter Kupchak: "It's not to say the only player we'll spend our money on this summer is a max player," but LAL want top talent.
@LakersReporter One more note: Kupchak said he believes Julius Randle lost 18 pounds since December. Could be big for quickness, first step.
