Married with children wouldn't get past a pilot episode today. 4-5 different groups would protest immediately

right, but race is based more on physical characteristics whereas gender is more complicated than physical characteristics. I can understand how someone could feel like they are man/woman but how do you feel a race?

Gender is less based on physical characteristics than race? Really? The physical characteristics are the one thing that separates a man from a woman... You feel race by being discriminated against due to it. Honestly there may be many black men who feel like it would be easier for them to find employment if they were white men... Or dare I say it... respect from law enforcement...

You would be surprised. Racial identity issues are very real.

And I'm not sure dude was going with this but race doesn't exist so that analogy is null & void from the jump.

You are confusing gender and sex. Are you saying that transgender people think it's easier to identify as transgender? I'm not really sure what point you are trying to make, besides a lame attempt to make this a black/white thing when it's not.

I think that people do have racial identities, but playing along with the race doesn't exist thing... what about a man thinking he is a giant panda and then getting surgery to look like one? What's the difference? And people feeling like they are animals is also very real and it is not novel at all. Several cases of people jumping from buildings believing they can fly. Why do we institutionalize this behavior but applaud the change of gender as courageous. I am REALLY trying to see a difference. Why not just accept how everyone believes themselves to be?

I agree. But my thinking was do racial identity issues exist in people from birth or is it A side effect of societies impact on them? They make it seem like a lot of transgender folks are born that way and have those feelings since birth. For all I know transgender a don't have these feelings from birth but they did say their is some science behind it.

Aha! I had to look up gender and sex (I'm actually learning this morning) So what are society's socially constructed roles for men/women. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with sexuality or clothing. If you are homosexual that doesn't automatically mean your gender is different.
 
Sidenote: It is called Clinical lycanthropy and it is referred to as a "rare psychiatric syndrome that involves a delusion that the affected person can transform into, has transformed into, or is a non-human animal." I am just confused as to why language such as "psychiatric syndrome" and "delusion" is used for this and not transgendered people? How is that fair to people with clinical lycanthropy? Why not live and let live?

That's just it tho... they are deceiving people. Heck, I watched the entire Jenner interview and he spoke freely about he didn't tell his significant others and wives about this at first. Recently told his children and even spoke about how it negatively effected some of them. So it is an issue, I am failing to see how people don't see that. Maybe if there was some sort of law that transgenders had to be forthcoming about their status as transgenders and transgendered bathrooms everywhere then it wouldn't be an issue. Until then, it seems like a slippery slope.

I know that's what I'm saying.. why do those ppl get put in mental hospitals but this behavior gets applauded. Sure doesn't seem fair. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere :\

It's different from transgender.

And they don't get sent to mental hospitals. They moan and whine about discrimination on tumblr while TS people are being murdered.
 
I don't think anybody is applauding this dude....at least I'm not. I think most are just like, "ok and?" Which is how it should be.

My opinion is he's garnering attention because the part of him that's a woman is an attention ***** and he's basically a kardashian. Also there is a transgender agenda that symbolizes something anybody who studies the occult knows what I'm talking about but let's not take it there
