THE LEBRON 13 THREAD *Elites released**Command Force 6/11/16

IMO Nike killed it on the colorways this year for the Elites..can't go wrong with white/gold/black

Not sure why they didn't put that colorway on the 11 and 12 elites

Finally have pricing info for the 13 Elite in Australia. Down to $300 from $340 for the past 2 models

They seriously need to rethink their MSRPs and focus on delivering value. They've oversaturated the market in the past few years and are churning out simplistic, low tech shoes at ridiculous prices. Their margins have to be insane hence their stock doing so well in the past few years.

I bet UA signing Curry and Kobe retiring was a huge hit to Nike Basketball. I think they could turn it around by hiring better designers and introducing new tech.

People trip me out when they say or think that UA and Steph Curry pose any type of threat what's so ever to Nike Basketball lol. Yes UA is selling a lot of the SC shoe and sells "may" end up being higher than the Lebron 13 shoe design, but SC sells alone will not dethrone the entire Nike Basketball of Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, KD, or Kobe Bryant who's shoe line will continue to be made along with all of the other Nike Basketball sneakers from their unofficial athletes (Nike Hyperdunk, HyperRev, Hyperlive, etc) Along with the take down lines of the Lebron solider line, Kobe Mentality, KD Trey 5? That's a lot for UA & SC to take on. Factor all of those sells when you talking Nike Basketball not just Lebron and see what you come out with.

Sounds like the people in the Ultra Boost thread. It takes a lot more than one model to take on Nike. It's a start, but Nike is retroing designs from the past 30 years that sell and not just dependent on new models.

Still, when was the last time Nike HADN'T signed the best player in the game... I'm not saying that UA is going to outsell Nike Basketball (which has been around 30+ years now) but the fact is that SC's line has more hype than any one player that Nike has signed. It makes me wonder if Nike is rethinking their future strategy as they initially passed on SC for god knows what reason.

The way you worded this, i cant tell if you know Steph was with Nike and left for UA

The Lebron 13 literally has 0 hype. I can't even remember when a flagship failed this badly for Nike.

and to think the KD has done even worse

To the point they've obviously already moved on and are even lowering the prices

The odd thing is that I don't think it's that bad and it's sort of grown on me. I like it better than the 12. Plus I like the way they fit better, since I like how snug it is. The 12 seemed like they wanted to make totally the opposite of the 11. With the 12 it always seems loose for me and like I can't get a good fit.

I think all they need to do is fire the design team that created these models and solicit some input from consumers. Look at JB-they were able to improve performance AND design of their flagship model starting with the XX9, but that took a shakeup of the design team and further consumer input.

All Nike has to do on the next Lebron models is throw a 360 air max bubble on like the 7s and 8s mixed with flyknit and some exclusives and they can leave UA dead in the water. Wait till they retro the SB8's or the Hero 7 pack or the Big Bangs.

I feel LeBron has played his best basketball in shoes with a air max unit.

When LeBrons retro that's gonna be insane.
I can't imagine the price for some kicks tho

What about when Bron wasn't even wearing the 11's on court, and everybody was talking "doomsday" for the LeBron line?  Still sold 300 million.

I do think the numbers won't be that good for the 13, and I would not be surprised at all if Steph moves more units of his shoes than Bron, but you gotta remember too that Nike is still cashing out when the 13's hit the outlets.  Their margins are so big, that even the clearance sales at the outlet, when everyone thinks they are stealing a pair for $100 or less, they are making money.  So profit margins may be closer than the units sold numbers when comparing how much UA made off Curry 2's and how much profit Nike makes off 13's when all is said and done.  It will be interesting to see.  Could be the first year in a while LeBron gets outsold by someone other than MJ.

There's a reason they say "hindsight is 20/20," Steph wasn't the best player in the league when Nike passed.  I'm sure if Nike would have known Steph was going to start shooting lights out and the Warriors were going to win the championship last year and probably break the Bulls season record this year with a potential repeat ring, Nike would've learned how to pronounce Steph's name correctly and pitched him an advertisement that didn't accidentally have KD's name in it.

Nike will be just fine, they still have the stable, while UA has the horse.  When I go to the gym to hoop I might not always see a Bron or Curry shoe, but I almost always see a Nike Kobe/KD/Kyrie or hyperdunk/hyperlive/hyperrev there.

I think Steph sales aren't a good comparison with lebron sales.

2 different msrps therefore different categories.

The $130 curry 2 is more in line with the Kyrie 2 at $120 than the lebron at $200

Kds dropping down to like $150 would be a better comparison to the curry next year.
