Americans got it all wrong with life, Europeans got it right with life

Where are they traveling? Europe as a whole is much more concentrated. You can feel you are learning new things, gaining culture etc. by traveling just 200 miles to a different country.

I will agree, they seem much more laid back with their afternoon closures/breaks.

Right? A new country is literally a train ride away.

Brb going shopping in France
Brb going to dinner in Italy
Brb waking up in Spain
Brb back to work on Monday.

Meanwhile America is one stripmall after the other. Other than a handful of major cities, everything else in between is pretty much the same.

Though I def need to check out Hawaii & Alaska before I leave the US for good one day.

Damn, if you don't get paid vacation at your job you are absolutely doing it wrong. I got about 80 hours left.

Paid Vacay time is all good but Europe just has a certain accessibility that we will never have.

I could've sworn most people in Europe live in houses that are either tiny and cramped or cost a lot for not much space compared to Murcia

And?

Folks in America spend far too much time at homes to what ultimately sums up to really comfortable, personalized prison cells.

And everyone's home in suburbia looks alike.

Ticky tacky lil boxes.

I can only speak on France, but cats out there take leisure time seriously. Food, drink ,culture, art and history come before work. You'll never see those cats being worked to death like out here in America. Hour and a half lunches and shops closing up at 8pm.

It's expensive but really no more expensive than where I live now (SF)

Don't get it twisted though, unemployment is high and the economy is struggling over there. If I could find a job over there though, I probably wouldn't come back.

Oh, and the sidewalk café is the European living room, damn I miss that

My biggest beef with France is the xenophobia.

And the overt racism against Muslims.

Their economy would be doing much better if they didn't discriminate.

I have about 80 hours of vac. And 40 hours left of sick :pimp:

I find it morbid that we actually are happy with such little leisure time.

We literally work to live.

:x

Man.....money is the root of all evil. But hey I love money and I'm materialistic.

But am I happy? Is anyone really happy? We surround ourselves with stuff and we believe we're happy.

When I'd probably be happier living simpler.

And another way to think of it. We work to further the agendas of the elite.

While making little headway to achieve our own goals.

We stare at pretty pictures on google and say "yeah one day I'll have that" or "I'll visit that place"....one day.

Or we'll listen to these politicians and say to ourselves, "my vote counts". But no matter who gets in the status quo remains.

Seems our dollar votes count for more, they know we like nice sneakers and cold beer so they'll keep giving us more of that.

But the truly valuable commodities, freedom, liberty, mobility, knowledge, health, love, they remain scarce.

Idk sometimes I think humanity has got it all wrong. Like this isn't how we're supposed to live.

I can only speak for myself, but I can certainly say I'm happy.

I work full-time and go to school full-time.  I'm about to graduate in two weeks and I'm getting ready to start a new  job the Monday after.  I haven't had a full day off since January, but even then all I can do is be grateful for the opportunities I've been given.  I'm the first generation of my family to graduate from college and I have a bright future ahead of me.  I don't plan on stopping my education, either.  I plan on going for an advanced degree and working the whole time I'm in school.

Am I a "workaholic"? Debatable. Am I a microcosm of how everyone feels (or should feel) about a heavy workload?  No.

All I'm saying is...things could be way worse, and maybe we should just be thankful for the opportunities we have.

I'd be happier if I got paid a livable wage to write. Thinking about starting my own website and see if I can create a brand for sports media. Just gotta refine a name and find someone to help me with the technical work since I'm not computer literate.

Maybe or maybe we should stop quantifying scarcity as opportunity and realize that there are certain natural, intrinsic freedoms that have been bottled up and sold.

Crazy, clean water is a sellable commodity.

Education.

Healthcare.

Even crossing imaginary lines on this Earth....

Nobody else ever stops and says......that **** is ******* weird and unnatural?

Like son. We as a species could end starvation tomorrow if we wanted to.

We could legit put an end to the water shortage.

Pollution.

Etc.

True...I'm just not too sure what any of this has to do with paid vacation time, or your initial point.

Pass me whatever you've got.

Just thinking in a broader sense bro.

Vacation time is an abstract concept to me.

Really the whole system doesn't really serve to better humanity as it stands right now. Any contributions of capitalism to humanity seem more like a byproduct or a unintended symptom than the intended result.

It's disgusting, but it's like that all over Europe really, I was prepared for but its only going to get worse.

The sad fact is that America and its business practices are really multi national and the more I travel to big cities around the world, the more they remind me of America's big overcrowded, soulless business hubs called cities where a small population has money and the other half lives in poverty.

Facts, all facts.

Okay really the only perspective on life that matters is your own, not some article someone wrote about what the "American Dream" should be for people and not what Europeans are doing with their lives. You want to live like a European go there and figure out if that life is for you. After a long time of thinking I'm pretty content with the lot I have.

No one's opinion or words can replace experiencing something when you're there. Certainly no one on NT or the internet in general should dictate how you live your life either.

People always ask me why my parents left Japan when it seems like such a clean country with a lot of cool, neat things. They didn't like the social structure there. Everyone does the same thing and has to live in the same way. Here in the US there's a lot of freedom, but there's also stupid **** in between that is frustrating.

Black or white, right or wrong ways of living doesn't exist in the world. Europeans don't have it that great.

great writeup papi

and idk bout u guys but i love chilling at home and working on projects with my hands

i love my country and my home

The economy in some of those European countries are terrible. The effect of that is immigrants getting abused and treated like **** *looks at Italy, Spain, and Greece*
They're in such economic shambles right now, I'm surprised they're still alive.
