Dominican Republic to be 'Socially Cleaned' in today

I never said it was OK....I said it when this surfaced that it was wrong, I've still yet to see the exodus of these multiple generations tho...do you know how unrealistic it is for DR to literally go back 3 generations to figure it who should go and who can stay, there are Dominican born generations that if they were to go back to 1930 they legit wouldn't even have a birth certificate....I see it more as a scare tactic to get people to go through the appropriate procedures to legalize themselves and to let it be know that from here on out the ridiculous influx of illegal Haitians will be under the scope.

Figuring out who's legally bound to the land dating back to 1930 is UNREALISTIC, DR will end up losing more than what it would gain....but yea just keep viewing this as "Dominicans hate black people"

If you said it was wrong, then we are on the same page. That's all i was trying to say as well.

As far as "Dominicans hating black people" im not informed enough to make that judgement. I been to DR once and no lie i seen these little shoe shine kids in Santiago go up to this Haitian lady begging for money and spit on her and her two infant kids. When we ask them why, they said because they take all their jobs and are bad people. I'll admit they never brought up race but these kids were about 8 or 9 themselves, someone must be teaching them this hate. I know racism towards black people isn't exclusive to DR, its common all over Latin american but the fact that some not all but some black Dominicans can't even admit to having African ancestry is very telling of their current racial issues.

No one said that

But if you lynch them and strip them of their citizenship

Then they are.

The DR has open elections right? How bout this, if the people are sooooooooooooo against the government doing this, I'm sure they'll vote them out next chance they get

And if they don't. Then I'm sure you'll be able to call a spade a spade and put some of the blame on the people too. Sound fair right?

Because electing representatives that promise the people the world and never come through on their promise is something you've never witnessed before

America quick to point fingers at Obama and other politicians, but expect somehow for a third world country to have better politicians

Brah I grew up in the Caribbean. So I have some idea how it works down there.

I'm saying that if people are so outraged, then they should vote them out. And you coming with another deflection

If people are so outraged, they will vote in the party that will do the right thing. That's all I'm saying

All over the Caribbean, people from Spanish speaking countries have the reputation of being racist. So if you claim it is not about that, then the people of the DR will definitely do the right things and make the people in power pay.

But lets keep it #1HUNNA. This is flying probably because a) there is support for it from some people on the island b) others on the island don't want to face the racial aspect and are trying to rationalize why this law is somehow necessary .

-Plus it doesn't bug you that so many people aren't even surprised the DR did this. Like all of my family and friends back in the the island are on some "racist gonna racist" steez.

You've been around long enough to know when something is worth getting your point across and when to simply let them enjoy their anarchy. No L taken bro.

Naw you actually stood your ground....I think you handled yourself quite well in this thread against your opposition who were just talking out of thier *****.

Let me ask yall this, what exactly would make NT happy?...that DR has an open door to all Haitians?...perhaps rename the entire Islad Haiti?...I mean midaswell

Not kick out Haitians that were born in the DR and have no current connection to Haiti/don't speak French etc

I understand wanting to tighten the borders but kicking out ppl who have been there for generations bc they're parents were poor and never got birth certificates is shameful

If you think the people actually have ANY pull on what the government does or doesn't do over there....lol

That's why everyone's biggest aspiration in DR is to get into politics, because it seems that's the only way to actually get a good piece of the pie down there....**** is bad down there bruh....but lettuce take on the issues of Haiti as well....because if they don't, Dominicans are racists.

That's not fair bro.
We livin in the free world and these politicians playing us left and right out here.
Can't expect much better from the political system in DR...or most Hispanic countries for that matter...probably any country in the Western Hemisphere...might as well include the eastern hemisphere too...the whole world?

No point in continuing. The delusion white americans have up here about how certain policies carried out up here (ex. Alabama kicking out all the migrant workers who just happen  to be of mexican/central american origin) is the same thing they have about Latin America. They view the race factor as coincidence and not as inherent reasoning behind the action.

And don't forget..a lot of the latin NTers and latins in general in the US would be considered white men in their country of birth/where their fam comes from so...its actually not surprising things have ended up this way.

Simple enough point.

Simple enough point.

From what I hear they have yet to do that...the only Haitians that have left have done so voluntarily and no one has been stripped from their home or family and sent back to a land they don't know....things are bad, just not THIS bad, but what you guys think will increase news ratings and sell more papers?

Guys so concern with racial tensions in a land you have 0 stake in, yet look at the crap we dealing with in our own land due to racism.

The irony of you to call me one sided when I've agreed the influence of racism IS present....only thing I said is that this is NOT solely based on that, yet you open minded fellas refused to see that....no way in hell can Dominicans simply have an issue with thousands of Haitians leaving their land to over populate DR because of the slightly better opportunities DR might offer....like I said I have family dark as night living in the capital, going about their lives without a worry....this is not me reading it on the headlines, this is me speaking with my I laws with first hand experience of how life is in DR....I mean if this was solely a race issue, I think ever black Dominican would have hit the panic button as well.

Hate crimes happen everywhere...racism is not exclusive to DR but as always
NT gon NT with its extremes.

elkin gonna elkin with staying in arguments on NT

Oh well everything is cool then.

It sucks that it's always a skin color discrimination issue, no matter what the news is, if the victims are black, it's automatically racism, it's unfair, injustice, etc. A lot of the general news threads when it comes to victims on NT, it's a majority race issue with victims being black.

Look bro I'm Dominican I'm from the Bronx, I grew up wit black ppl I ride wit black ppl and I made a lot of money wit black people. Dominicans ain't racist were just protecting our country. DR is about the size of Texas and its under developed, we can't let 5million hatians invade when we don't even have jobs for us. How could you say Dominicans are racist? Look at our swagger, look how we dress, look how we act.. ***** we got black IN US.

^ I was more on the Dominicans side. Dominicans have black in them and many actually look full Black, I agree that a country would do whatever it takes to protect its own country from poverty, inflation, and whatever else that overpopulation can result to. It just amazes me how one country wants to rid of foreigners but another group wants to call that country racist. It's like calling America racist because we don't want to grant amnesty to the undocumented immigrants. I don't believe the DR is racist, I think it's doing this deporting for it's own well being and I can't blame them.

Ironically enough, if an illegal Dominican couple has a child born in Haiti the Haitian govt. doesn't consider that child to be a Haitian citizen.

And do we really believe they Dominican govt. is gonna go back 80 years. In this country with all the resources and manpower dedicated to immigration that task would be damn near impossible but we really think a third world country could pull this off, I doubt they go back 80 months.

There is an estimated 2 million Haitian immigrants in DR, half of which are believed to be illegals, the Dominican govt. said they were deporting about 250k which means it'll prolly be around half of that. That's about 10% of the ILLEGAL immigrants in the country!

I truly believe this is nothing more than elected officials acting like they are doing something to address a problem many Dominicans feel is getting out of hand, and in an election year no less. Read pass the headlines ppl!

Lol @ "we have black in us" Smdh

Unbelievable...

Yeah and your teeth have white in them, so what. Still black...

Lol as soon as the world government say "ok all blacks get a mil each" is when that "we got black in us" turn into "yeah yeah...yeah I'm black man! Look at me, can't you tell? Matter of fact I'm blacker than you! " [emoji]9995[/emoji][emoji]127998[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

I can't!

It's funny to me that there is more people angry over Dominicans not thinking that they are black, than anything else in this thread.

And yes I am Dominican and yes I know I'm black.

Dudes are so caught up on the racial tension to see passed what the media feeds them....DR has no types of resources to weed out who's legal and who's not dating back to 1930  it literally makes 0 sense.

I asked my mominlaw how things are back home and she laughed...there are no riots or families being stripped from their homes and sent packing to a place they don't know....the media blew everything out of proportion and you have lots of people jumping the gun, American born Dominicans even, saying they are ashamed to be Dominican knowing close to nothing about the dynamics of the influx of Haitians into DR, apparently the actual ratio of women giving birth in hospitals in DR now favors Haitian women by ALOT, which means if they don't control this, soon enough Dominicans will become a minority in their own land.

Nah but you fellas keep holding up that race card high and proud.

I don't know anyone who lives there right now so I was just going off what was being reported by numerous mainstream and blog type outlets. They all mentioned that 1929 thing.

I'm happy if the situation is being overblown.

I could not care less about the Dominicans(or other Hispanics) who don't claim their African roots. Mixed AAs do it too. It's sad but it doesn't affect me
