i know of a church that you have to turn in a copy of your w2's

pastor drives a RR phantom too.

we need churches to protect us from natural disasters and determine morality so yes they should pay taxes...

nobody who goes to church should ever complain about taxes. They throw their money away on their own

Why just churches? Why not other places of worship? Knowing NT this is going to turn into a Christian bashing thread.

I think other places of worship are included. I don't think anyone has suggested that we should tax christian churches but exclude mosques and temples.

I think that all organizations, for profit, non-profit, and religious should be required to report their earnings, with for-profits paying a flat percentage rate of earnings on taxes, non-profits paying a variable tax depending on the percentage of their funds that go to aid, and with religious organizations only paying taxes on purchases. Specific rules on what church/religious money can be used for and caps on salaries for church adminstration (lets say the pastor cannot be paid more than double the lowest paid administrative staff, for example) and similar rules for the for profit sector (ie CEO salary can be no greater than 50x of lowest salaried worker, workforce can't exceed 50% contractors or automated machinery or must pay tax penalty.)

Strict penalties for all when found guilty of tax evasion, fraud, theft, or use of personal gain.

Yes.

I've tried to see the other of the argument but no matter how I look at it, I come to the conclusion that churches should be taxed

We got folk outchea crying that if Obeezy raise their taxes 1% he is a tyrant. But happily giving 10-15% to their shady pastor :smh:

But don't they kind of already tax you with the %10 tithe and then an offering on top of that

This would just make it mandatory.

EDIT: I'm not in my right mind for some reason I thought you were saying the congregation should pay taxes.

If churches end up paying taxes then best believe that collection plate will be passed around way more than usual
