Happy Sega Dreamcast Day

It wasn't ahead of its time, it just had cross platform play, online gaming (56k and broadband), console x handheld compatibility, VGA output, a system interface/UI, voice recognition and voice chat, and motion sensitive controllers

The only thing that didn't run well was the online gaming, cuz it was on a damn dial up modem

Tell me more about the capabilities of other systems in 1998.

And which of this was successful or ever useful or EVER USED?? Sit here and tell me you used the web browser.......? Stop, you don't get points for trying. And LOL and saying vmu's were mobile gaming. Yikes

You sound ignant right now  this all goes back to it being ahead of its time. Game tech had to catch up.

That's what ahead of its time means.

I def used the browser by the way. And all the other stuff I named. Everyone I know did that had one. You just sound like you didn't know what you were doing.

Bruh I used the hell out of this stuff. I remember Phantasy Star online :wow: :pimp:. The community was DEEP and I put in like 1000 hours

I remember typing on a keyboard to communicate. Way ahead of its time.

Sony did the Apple trick. Just sit back and watch people crash and burn and fight among themselves, and make the necessary changes and improvements and drop a better product.

Dreamcast definitely set some sort of a blueprint when it comes to certain things
. Yoooo I remember talking mess to dudes with keyboard while playing nfl2k online lol.

Ahead how? All failed attempt of incorporating things? No.

Here's how "ahead of its time" works. Look at fantasy star online. An mmo that worked despite its limitations that still holds up today. THATS being "ahead of its time". Digi pet vmu's were not ahead of its time. Arcade ports were not ahead of its time. A horrible attempt of online gaming is not ahead of its time. You must of forgot PC gaming too. At that time all online integration the DC poorly attemped was already done much better.

Blaster, if you don't **** with the DC they why are you in here? You sound like a scorned woman.

You def aren't hardcore for you to say what you're saying. Son we put in hours at the arcade and then would go home and out in hours more then repeat and take ****** money like you easily in the mvc2 era.

I love the DC, but guys in here are being delusional about what it was. At the time the ps1 and the n64 were already pooping on it a generation back.
Please.
The n64 had killer instinct gold and what else? Smash was the ONLY fighting game ppl ****** with on the 64 and even then the smash community wasn't even respected for a long time after that game was out.

The ps1 is a goat system. But we are talking about and focusing on another goat system. The DC.

In no way shape or form is the DC not a goat system. And it was ahead of its time and it was the only way to play what was out in the arcades at the time at home. Period.

All this slander can go thataway.

It was nothing to pull all nighters in marvel on the DC and put in work as soon as the arcade opened and stay until after hours. FOH at any DC slander. Hell na.

We aren't even talking about jet set radio or Shenmue or cvs2. We aren't going to sit here and act like this isn't a goat system off the strength of having as close of an arcade perfect mvc2 as possible even right the **** now. And it came out the same year and only months apart at that as the arcade release. F you talking about bro.

LOL listen to yourself. Like I said you sound hurt.

Who said I don't F with DC? I've said it repeatedly that I loved the system. Dry your tears boy

Do you even know what goat means? There can only be ONE goat

Learn to count
I along with damn near everyone else I know put systems in categories. Goat systemS would be nes, snes, genesis, psx with the rest being debatable.

You can have one goat system if you want. No one is stopping you. I don't have one since I owned them all and have favorites that I can't rank over each other.

Wasn't this the highest priced system at the time ?
I think it was $100 less than PS2.

Yo w t f I paid $329 for it straight from Best Buy  . Guess that was breaking even since I had a game hookup and never once paid for a Dreamcast game.

Also, Power Stone was awesome, and is always one of the first games talked about in reference to Dreamcast, and earned a sequel (one that was much better than the original and enhanced it's longeivity). Nostalgia is when you've built up something from your childhood, try to go back and relive it, and it sucks. You can still jump on Power Stone and still play a cold *** game. Sorry Blaster

PS2 really killed Dreamcast dead though. Cut'em right off after all that advertising. PS2 didn't even let DC build up a big enough library before just washing them away.

There's not been anything quite like the Shenmue games. The storyline was so gripping and I ended up caring so much about the characters. The third one can't come soon enough. I always wanted to play the Yakuza series though but never did. I think they are meant to be a "spiritual successor". But yeah, the Dreamcast was an amazing console for its time.

dreamcast was the first system that you can actually burn a game into a cdr and play it on the system with no modification. no wonder it didn't last long smh

Outside the Genesis, the Dreamcast was Sega's best console. Definitely appreciated. Soo many hours were spent playing NBA 2K1 online and MVC2. Those two games alone make this one of the best consoles of all time.

Sega is the only console maker I respect outside of Nintendo. Sucks this was their last console.

View media item 1707728I got my Dreamcast along with this controller waay back in 2001... soo many memories. :smokin

The Nintendo-Sega rivalry was great, both true gaming companies. Who really cares about Sony-Microsoft other than their shareholders?

Its funny how PS1 was the GOAT for its gen, but it didnt age well at all.

I was looking back at it as early as PS2 wonder how the hell did I play it so much.

Dreamcast, on the other hand, would still get burn without a problem.

That's because it was one of the last systems that you still had to somewhat use your imagination for.
