Checks vs Direct Deposit

I can do either or but might as well do direct deposit. But if I have a check, Wells and other banks has that app that allows you to take a photo of your check and deposit it at home. But yeah, get direct deposit. The money is in your bank at midnight.

I don't mean to pocket watch omgitswes omgitswes (que "I'm from Brooklyn, we don't do that" /dame) but something that helped me save and budget was opening up another bank account and allocating a percentage of my deposit to it. I leave the debit card at home so I'm not tempted to use it while out and about.

I miss the nostalgia of checks. Don't miss having to catch the bus on Friday to pick them up and making up excuses for why I couldn't take peoples' Friday night shifts tho. "I'll let you have my tips!"

Yeah, I'm not nearly as bad now as I was about a year ago when I first started working.

Only time I did check was when I worked at places that didn't do direct deposits and when I didn't have a bank account. This was all in high school though. I don't see any reason outside of those where you would want physical checks instead of direct deposit. Unless you can't legally open one or your credit is that terrible banks won't to business with you.

Was using paper checks for a long time cause I was used to it, and it gave me a reason to talk to all the fine tellers at my bank. Then they slowly started replacing them with frumpy *** chicks and I got a later work schedule, so it's DD now.

This dont sound weird to you?

Conversing isn't weird at all, especially when your paper checks will eventually get replaced by something that amounts to gift cards, charging you a small fee for using your own money

I remember with my previous job weekly pay was great, but a lot of idiot spending was going on. Plus u felt like God if you had a credit union and you was getting your check before everyone else

I used to blow my check on bills and other random crap before all my coworkers even got paid. :smh:

But after a while I changed my direct deposit info.. I had about 2/3 of my money go into direct deposit acct, then the rest would come in on paper check.

And I wouldn't collect my paper checks, just wait for the job to send them out and not cash them...

Saved a lot of bread that way. Minimized my spending and only focused on bills with that direct deposit money.

Direct deposit is indeed dope. However, I'm like an old man. I still walk into the bank for a lot of transactions. And I don't have smart phone.

It's gotten to the point where the only time I ever use cash or take out cash is when I hit the barbershop.

Reminds me of my co workers who still mail in checks to pay bills, they don't trust the online payment system

If I see cash only on your store you're getting the grampa Simpson gif treatment.

I got my first big boy job but still collected checks from my old job and them joints piled up. I was NOT going to the bank.

Thats not even the issue with some places I've been to. $5 cash or $6 card. I don't even bother ordering.

This. Alot of scams like card skimmers in atms and people stealing your identity.

This goes for any neighborhood. I only swipe at reputable places

No, the fact that you based your financial set up on some chicks at the bank

My debit card connected to my car payment got "ghost carded"

I never use that car all I do is deposit money directly to my bank with it.

One time I used it for gas and a week later, someone tried to buy something from india. smh

My dad tells this all the time. Its solid advice. I don't use my debit cards ever though they're for suckers. It benefits you in no way. I use my credit card as a debit card equivalent. I spend it and then go home and pay it off.

That plus the extra fraud protection for situations like this is why I do this.

I only use my debit card. I only know a few stores who accept credit cards and they're high end electronics or luxury clothing stores.

I only use my credit card for online purchases as it's pretty much the only thing you can do with it.

In my opinion, if you're not utilizing direct deposit, you're just wasting time with checks.

I just don't see anything going for getting a regular check as opposed to a direct deposit.

Pay day on a Friday gets you feeling like :smokin
