The Oakland Raiders 2016 Offseason Thread | Welcome, Karl & Jihad & Shilique & DeAndre

okay, calmed down a little and I'm not nearly upset about this pick as I was when it first happened.

McGloin will be gone after this season, so we add depth to the QB position and free up some cap space to pay Carr

Ravens took Dixon...hopefully we snatch up a RB in the next couple of minutes...and as I'm typing the Broncos snatch Booker lol fml

This draft could pan out to be bigger than last years.

DeAndre Washington RB outta Texas Tech. Don't know much about him, but looks like a good compliment to Murray

Considering how well Reggie has done the last few drafts, we have to trust him. I don't know **** about half these guys.

Washington is a scat back. Nice complement RB to Murray. He had 124 receptions at Texas tech. He could come in and contribute right away.

Cook will push Derek and McGloin in the mix is a good problem to have. Ya'll saw what happened to Christian Ponder.
Not everyone is a fan of McGloin but he's been serviceable and taken advantage of his opportunities.

Carr will push himself. He's a self motivator. Cook was drafted as the back up next year. Mcgloin will play the season out as a Raider. Depending how far along Cook is at the end of the season. It will determine McGloins future will the team.

Aries always like a little competition.

seen us linked to 2 receivers. Johnny Holton, Cincinnati. KJ Brent, Wake Forest.

Yea I think this could go down as one of Reggie's best drafts, particularly if a year or two from now it turns out that Reggie hit on Ward and/or Calhoun.

With McGloin's contract situation, the Cook pick makes too much sense to me.

Ability a side, we're talking about a guy who probably would have went day 2 if he had a "C" on his jersey last fall. Cowboys were likely gonna swoop, Reggie said **** that noise.

We plan on contending for the division title for years to come, we've seen what happens too an otherwise strong team when the QB goes down and there's no serviceable back up.

Develope Cook, hopefully we never need him, ideally his value only increases.

I know some people view McGloin as a capable backup but dude already gets paid more than Carr, and his price will only go up with another contract.
hopefully we never need Cook, but also it will be good that he'll have a year in the system when McGloin leaves.

Let's just forgot about the times he's played well.

Over the course of his entire career his play has been a net positive BY FAR.

Back in 2013

Really the only meaningful sample size.

But ok let's nitpick a bad quarter here and a bad quarter there.

Again, over the course of his career, preseason included, his individual play has been a net positive and it's not even close.

But I'll let yall run with this narrative that Matt McGloin is trash as far as back up QB's go.
