"If I Was Black I'd Move To Atlanta and Live Like A King", Says Another New Yorker At Dive Bar

real tears tho? damn :smh: i've never seen the worst parts of bmore, but i had family near MICA (and a good friend studying there) so when i'd visit id see the nice brownstones n ****, but that wouldn't stop the hood from spilling into that area, with violence. but i did see a lot of north philly while living there. never seen so many boarded up houses and empty lots.

i feel you tho. that's why i appreciate the wire for artistic and cultural significance. lotta hoods across america, these kids just need to be pointed in the right direction. just saw a vid about black youth in oakland and the ways some in the school and police are trying to increase outreach and guidance towards success. looking to volunteer at an afterschool program, and hopefully inspire some minority youth, show em that there is more to life than cement 4s or the neighborhood they might've never seen beyond.
i hear you.

Man, I didn't realize how bad the hoods in Bmore and Philly looked until I moved to ATL. Stuff around MICA, is nice. If you want to take a virtual wire tour of Bmore and Philly....Google map:

Monument & rose
Gilmor & Presstman
2700 Block of Tivoly
Poplar Grove & North Ave
Bel air & Erdman
20th & Kennedy

Those are just a few of the many hoods just like this here. Sht looks bad the more you travel.

In Philly

21st & Berks
Anything North Philly really

Man when I go to other cities and see what their hoods look like and it looks like the suburbs compared to the hoods here. Y'all seen the pics of the hoods here so I don't even gotta go into detail. **** depressing to look at.

People in New York City dive bars are pretty much an open book, and diverse. It's funny to see different types of people going through culture shock when they realize their small town superiority tactics don't apply here in the city. The mental breakdowns are priceless.

Crazy thing about New York is you could have a blast with a transplant who believes they're racist and Republican, or an accidental racist who's a Democrat. Truth is, people are people. You won't actually know until you peel back the layers and get to know them on an individual level.

I chop it up with a few people who believe they're racist or at the least a conservative who believes that they're racist. We have the most meaningful conversations ever.

Mad Respect for you, OP. Typa dude I'd wanna kick it with.

Under $200k for that big house? I'm scared to see what's a good hourly paying job.
I can't see wages being high if homes are this big n this cheap but school me if I'm wrong.

My house is 5 bdrm 31/2 bath and full basement, caught a steal under 200k

Shut the **** up!

How?? What was the catch??!!! I know it's way more affordable down there vs Northeast but that's not real life I know it's not.

Give me story, thanks in advance.

Aren't you from Detroit? I don't mean this with any disrespect at all because I have family who lives there. I went in 1996 an it was the worse city I ever been to in USA. I was like 12 years old in 96, I never had an urge to go back to MI after that.

My coworker was moving and I was able to buy before he put it on the market, he bought the house for $120 lived in it for a year, made some upgrades sold to me. He took a loss also but he didn't have to worry about having 2 mortgage payments when he moved. At the time I purchased houses was selling left and right and locked in a super low interest rate at 3.75 or 2.75 . I remember the lawyer at closing was asking how did I lock in that rate because it had just jumped back up. All I can say is build your credit and pay off loans and everything will fall into place

Good **** bro gotdamn....

Yea I'm debt free Im working on fixing my credit I don't even know the score right now [emoji]128517[/emoji]

I can't believe you got that house for that price even your coworker $120 that literally doesn't comprehend for me living up here. Like the other person said there has to be a difference in wages but I guess it's all relative to the cost of living down there also.

I used to work in John's Creek it's really nice out there. Think Alpharetta nice, and the demographics were pretty much the same.

What's a good price for a trap house? I know vice was talking about gentrification coming

Gentrification is coming? It's already happening. Started back in 2005. Just now spreading more so along that Beltline.

Find some property along the Beltline (Beltline.org) and you'll have to sit on it but it's guaranteed a great return.

Trap houses along the Beltline would be on the westside of Atlanta (Abernathy or WestEnd area). Just look on the website. Problem is now its a buyer's market now, but you may luck up.

Mostly everything on downtown and Eastside is done. Those taxes are high as hell now.

If anything for an investing and sitting on home, Detroit is the way to go.

I know doctors typically get more compared to NYC and Cali

Ok let's take for example a policeman or firefighter, what's their pay? That will tell me a lot.
i believe police in dekalb co start around 36k, but nationally the avg is 55k....if im not mistaken

#NTATL

Any of you dudes hitting Savannah this weekend for the St. Patrick's Day Festival? I suppose to go Saturday.

I was supposed to be meeting some folks out there on Friday, but plans changed. I never been for St. Pats but I always heard it was insane out there.
