Been searching like crazy to figure out what these shoes are. The episode is The One Where Monica and Richard Are Just Friends. This episode came out in Jan. '97 if that helps. Thanks!

Nike Air Zoom Fly 1996.

They were a football shoe, designed for artificial turf.
