I will keep this discrete and as short as possible and keeping specifics to myself.

I have tonight and tomorrow morning to decide if to contact the task force and move forward and hope they actually care to make an effort to finish the investigation I've started.

My car was stolen not too long ago and as a result the car was found completely stripped. Car was an older car so, I ****** up on that aspect by only having liability. I unfortunately had personal belongings in the car which contained personal information as far as name and address.

I recently found beyond enough evidence to prove that there's more than reasonable suspicion and probable cause that the individual I found selling parts off of my car through social media, is the person that was responsible for stripping my car (let alone uncovering an operation that they might be running as far as chop shop(s).
Screenshots, addresses, and pictures in comparison of when the parts were under my possession matching the screenshots taken on the sale postings, comments, and all with dates matching the day my car was missing.

Now, the reason I made this thread is for advice on what to do with all this information and a couple of questions I can't seem to find answers for.

Should I take the risk of putting my family in danger by taking this on over to the auto theft task force? (hence, I don't know if they might still have my address and I don't know anything about these people and their connections) or should I accept the loss and move on from all of this?

Can I pursuit a law suit against them if arrested for property damage? and would having liability insurance stop any chance of getting something in return to make up for my loss?

What happens to the remainder of parts once the task force finds them? Junked or used for evidence or can I get them back? Since the car he's building won't be an option to get in exchange for my loss.

What would you guys do? I'm all ears for other questions or ideas you guys can ask/show me.

Idk much about this subject but I would

Go to task force before they do this to someone else

You already have all this information on whoever stole it, so why not put it to use with people who are meant to help

You clearly didn't care enough about the care to have it fully insured, so I'm assuming it wasn't worth much. Take the loss. Not worth the time and energy.

how bout contacting a lawyer, getting their advice then proceed as you wish.

the people involved in these kind of illegitimate businesses are run by or connected to people "about that life"

if you are not a street gato with your own goons or connections to other goons

you are not going to get anything handled with any street justice except more problems for yourself

so you can take the L or call the cops

Thank you for the responses.

go and handle ur business.
Really wish I could but, I have a lot to lose.

Get to snitchin fam. Just make sure the police take measures to maintain your anonymity
True that. I just hope they find a way to point out multiple cars and not just mine. Which would be pretty obvious where the hit came from.

Exactly. I got a lot to lose by taking the street justice route. Especially with a task force designed specifically for this type of ********. I just hope they don't treat this as another case of a stolen car when I'm presenting half a solid investigation for them as it is.

As soon as you do something to him directly, you lose the possibility of the law helping you out.

I'd go to the task force. Mainly for the thought of him doing this to someone else.

If they have your information, just play things safe and be alert during the time after.

if someone stole my car, they better know a good mechanic...
