Simply put, my diet needs a lot of cleaning up. But the #1 thing that has to go for me is the soda. I've had a problem with it since I was a kid, luckily I am a pretty active guy so it hasn't absolutely ruined me. Ramadan (month of fasting) starts Monday and on Sunday night I will have my last Dr Pepper until the end of the month. It will officially be the longest I've gone without soda

I have a pretty clean diet overall IMO, could be better but could be a lot worse too.

I drink almost exclusively water or almond milk, if I go out I'll have beer or something like a rum & coke where I end up with some soda but that's not TOO often. Most days I end up drinking ONLY water.

Breakfast: I try to eat oatmeal w/ raisins or some random fruit(usually bananas) or peanut butter. Before I was adding honey too but got away from that. Have days where I'll want some eggs, hash browns, pancakes, french toast, whatever else honestly but I tend to stay away from that stuff(eggs are cool) because I know I'll start wanting all the other foods from before when I ate crazy constantly. It's a mental thing for me lol(& I'm trying to stay away from sugars so no syrup).

Lunch a lot of times doesn't exist. I subscribe to the thought of eating heavier in the morning(oatmeal) & snacking throughout the day so I try to eat bananas, apples, almonds, broccoli/carrots/whatever I eat in this personal-sized veggie tray I take to work.

Dinner: I've been staying away from all meats lately, flirting with that vegetarian/vegan life. I try to eat a lot of black beans/rice based meals. I don't cook a lot so I end up relying on what I can find while out & let my diet sometimes slip more than I would like as a result I won't lie. It's just hard getting time to cook up things, today I'll get to do some stuff but that's not always possible.

I also do eat a good amount of hard boiled eggs, try to do some smoothies(end up buying more than making until I find a great way to pre-prep smoothies for the week at once), I will eat a fair amount of pizza(spinach/jalapeno pepper/pineapple/tomato, not the worst option if you're eating pizza IMO) & I'll get sushi sometimes where I'll sometimes have a fish-based roll instead of a veggie roll or sweet potato.

Been Vegan for a month going into week 5 on Monday, best decision I've ever made in my life. :smokin

Not bad but not great. Sometimes breakfast eludes me but have been making smoothies in the morning which is helping.

Trying to eat meat less but it's hard. Rarely soda water is all day. Go to the gym 4 times a week so that help when I take down some huge burger with Cajun fries.

Vices is sweets and has gotten worse now that my current girl is a baker. Before last month I didn't care what I ate but now am more health conscious. Stomach issues with bloatness.

Right now since im going through ish, ive lost my appetite and I've been eating once a day and just water. My fata** needs to lose a lot of weight to start feeling better about myself, I'll start eating healthy and exercising consistently when I can get to a good weight. Lol

Okay so someone school me on carbs. I'm a big guy, going to cut myself to 1600 calories a day. High protein, low carbs hopefully. What grams of each should I aim for, and what kind of carbs should I consume?
way too low bro unless you are just laying down all day in a coma.

go look online for a maintenance calorie calculator. they aren't perfect but it will give you a good idea of how much you need to eat.

after you get that number of calories...stick with it for a week to see how your body is reacting to it.

you wan't to be losing weight but not starving yourself so much that you can't function well.

dieting is a marathon and should be taken slowly.

losing too much weight too fast is extremely harsh on your body and your psyche...and often will resort you to gaining the weight back.

that's why it should be a slow transformation so you can maintain it.

My diet is clean for the most part (maybe 2-3 "cheat meals" a week). I only drink water. Meals consist of proteins and veggies, snacks are nuts and fruit. I don't consume wheat, grains, whatever at all. No more donuts, pizza, sandwichs, pancakes, burgers, etc.. :frown:

My typical day:

Meal 1:
Hard-boiled eggs, spinach & arugula, 1/2 a grapefruit

Meal 2:
Fruit: Grapes/Watermelon

Meal 3:
Grilled chicken w/ string beans/asparagus

Meal 4:
Nuts: Pistachios/Cashews

Meal 5:
Grilled/steamed fish w/ Mixed veggies

I'm kind of like this but no fruit for meal 1, a cup of oatmeal a day (with almonds/walnuts and maybe an egg) before I work out and a protein shake (with fruit) after. The shake and some fruit would be my 6th meal.

I usually do a carrot/celery/cucumber/kale/spinach/ginger smoothie with eggs (maybe some avocado) for Meal 1.

Gotcha. Readjusted through my fitness pal. Will gradually decrease calorie intake every 4 or 5 weeks.
