 :smh:

For those that didnt catch the Pax interview, don't know, or just flat out don't care....

Per SB Nation

Prior to the Bulls 119-100 romping at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs, Bulls fans were gifted with John Paxson’s annual state of the union address. Christmas morning Bulls VP of Basketball Operations joined David Schuster on 670 The Score to speak on the current state of the team (thanks to 670 The Score’s Cody Westerlund for grabbing the following quotes and many more).

A couple of the big takeaways from the following quotes from Pax were that he was often blunt as usual, and that he seemingly contradicted every offseason move they made, aside of signing Dwyane Wade.

On the Bulls current pace of play:

“We’ve wanted to play with a little more pace, a little quicker. In this day and age, if you’re not advancing the ball quickly and you’re allowing defenses to set up and you’re fighting clock, that becomes an issue.”

Followed by the Bulls three point shooting, or lack thereof:

“It’s hurt us, there’s no question about it. We’re last in the league in three point shooting. We acknowledged that going in, that that would be an issue with us.”

LOL. It gets better.

“At the beginning of the year, we knew that was going to be a weakness of ours. It’s something we have to address. We did think we were going to shoot the ball a little bit better than we’re shooting it right now.”

But this, these right here are the gems of the bunch.

On trying to plug holes when Derrick Rose was injured:

“In the meantime, you’re drafting in the middle of the pack all the time. You’re good enough to make the playoffs a little bit, but you’re picking between 14, 15, and 22. It’s difficult to get impact players, unless you’re lucky like we were with Jimmy (Butler) years ago.”

Where the Bulls need to improve:

“The area we really do need to improve is with our athleticism. That’s been evident this year as well. We’ve got some vets that know how to play, can score, but you know when you look around the league and how the game is now, that’s an area we have to address.”

Is everyone done laughing yet?

Everything that Paxson went through and then some, is under his and general manager Gar Forman’s control. An inability to grab an impact player in the middle of the draft? You literally surrendered FIVE draft picks for Doug McDermott when you had Jusuf Nurkic and Garry Harris. Or the fact that when you did make the trade with Denver, Rodney Hood, Zach LaVine and TJ Warren were still available. There were impact players available, you, the front office failed.

They knew the way Hoiberg wanted to play when they hired him, they acknoweldge such during multiple occasions. Through two offseason’s now, they’ve had an opportunity to build an adequate roster to fit his offensive schemes, to rebuild this team around Jimmy Butler, and have failed to do so each time.

Want to get younger and more athletic? Don’t sign Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade. Want to play with more pace? Don’t sign a point guard notorious for ball-stopping and assist-hunting. Need more three point shooting? Again, why sign Rondo and Wade? This list goes on of the obvious mistakes this front office has made.

If anything, Paxson’s interview was an indictment on his and Forman’s performance over the past few offseason’s. Sure they had a good run back when, but it’s clear these two can’t perform their jobs adequately. The only way this organization can move forward is without them.

Straight comedy!
Get Pax and Gar all the way out of the CHI!!!
Knowing Reinsdorf he'll fire Gar but keep Pax's bum @ss here till he is forced out by his own embarrassment and humiliation, just like Krause. :smh: :smh: :smh:

This clown knew all the problem and instead of hitting the reset button, he'd figured he can patch this up and just get us to a first round exit with bum @ss wade and rondo.
All of us here knew this, but kept hope that maybe things would be different.....sad, just sad.

I can't believe that this dude has been in charge for over a decade.

It's why I won't spend a dime on a ticket until those guys are shown the door. I wish that we as a fanbase flexed our muscle more. We've been putting up with BULLs___ for too long.

DWade is over his prime clearly and Rondo has bad team attitude for years which should be obvious.
Don't know what the Bulls frontoffice was smoking.

I didn't mind the acquisitions however, I'm more pissed that we still have Hoidberg as our coach. Mans doesn't know what he's doing.

I said this to a friend this summer when the Bulls signed Wade and Rondo and especially after they traded for MCW, but they are literally putting Hoiberg in a position to fail. His offensive schemes are perfect for today's NBA, his problem is he's got no one who can shoot the ball. You're not going to be successful when you're last in the league from behind the arc. If the Bulls do end up moving on from Hoiberg, I hope he gets a chance with another franchise who is willing to pursue some shooters and not just make the splashy headline type of acquisitions.

Then why not give guys like Valentine and RJ Hunter a chance ? i get that we lack shooters and all that jazz (front office is cheeks) however, our lineups are a prime example of why we shoot poorly. Should have guys like Valentine, RJ Hunter and Portis out there who can shoot the three ball.

I don't think Valentine is a great shooter at the NBA level but I'd like to see Hunter and Portis get some more opportunity. I think Mirotic's struggles have really hurt as he needs to be a guy who can consistently space the floor. None of their PGs can shoot which hurts. I just think the roster is ill constructed and lacks balance to be able to get the shooters out there while still being respectable defensively.

Jimmy with 52 tonight! Wonder how much he'll have left in the tank at the end of season.

Well the occassional high scoring output is not the main issue as players like MJ or Kobe did that more often in their prime and still had enough in their tank in the post season.
But the average minutes Jimmy has been playing is something they should bother. Rondo probably gets traded and doesn't play much before that and Wade is not capable to play more than 30 minutes to be efficient at his age.

looks like we are heading towards a repeat of last season, barely making/missing the playoffs and another bad draft pick

im glad we didnt trade butler last year, especially if we were going to draft dunn with that pick. The bulls have to unload whoever they can at this point. Doug, Taj, Niko, Lopez...stockpile assets

and for the love of god stop drafting these 'high character low upside' guys. valentine is trash he is the second coming of marquise teague

I thought that they should of surrounded Jimmy with shooters like Morey did in Houston with Harden.

Anyways Jimmy put it on last night!
