Do you let police search your car?

Same here I was in early 20s, made really good money bartending (was always heading home from work around 3am), so I bought a nice car my mistake was putting 26's on it. I drive a Benz now all stock, and havent been pulled over in that car except for traffic violation's which I was guilty of.
Yup!  Mine had tint (legal) and chrome wheels.  That'll do it every time.

Former BLaw professor always stressed the "unknown" option of refusing to answering questions, search consents, etc. I wouldn't give consent though. I shouldn't have any illegal items so it'd be a waste of their time/efforts.

However...If a cop asks you to roll down your back windows, are you required to comply? I'll share the story later
Its best to roll down your back windows if you have a tint, if you dont there is an immediate threat posed to the officers if they cant see who or what it back there.

The overall question, if you have nothing to hide, always ask why and if they need a warrant, don't be a ****. you dont have to but they could hold you there for a long *** time waiting for backup or dogs, just et them look and be done with it.

My homie had some limo tint on his whip. Cop put some lil machine on the glass and then whipped out a blade and scraped a good peice off of the 2 front windows and gave him a ticket.

Made that mistake first time...I knew I my ride was clean so I figured whats the harm? Cop must have been jealous of my car, he called a tow service they unbolted my seats ripped out all interior he could, then said "its breakfast time lets get out of here" left me and my dismantled car on the side of the road. Never again!

Bro, how TF is that even legal? So they can just tear your s**t up and not be liable for it?

I asked politely why I was even pulled over, when he asked to search my car. He replied I'll find a reason, and put me in the back of the cop car. BTW I had stock tint, just the rims.

IIRC they can only hold you for 59 minutes. Which is still a long time but it's not hours

Hell naw. I got **** to do. They can detain you at your car for an hour after you consent and tear it up. Last time I checked they're paid while doing it, I'm not. When they ask me if they can search my car I politely say, "I'm not consenting to you searching my car. However, I can't stop you from going against my wishes, only a judge can."

I just passed a check point last night. Luckily I was traveling opposite from it, whew! Definitely remembered to avoid that street on the way back. They had a bunch of people pulled over and some were having their cars searched...right in front of the local bar

Back when I was like 19 or 20 I had just come from a pizza a shop with one of my friends. We both lit up a cigarette and drove away. Cop must've seen smoke and assumed it was tree. Two cops pull me over, order the both of us out of the car and proceed to thoroughly search my car. They treated me and my boy like **** to boot, even though we literally did nothing illegal. When they didn't find anything, these cops start trying to flip it and make small talk, "what did you guys have to eat? Is it any good there?"

Another time I had a house party. Neighbors called the cops. Cops come, flip over my beer pong table, pour out all my bottles on my backyard, and dump out all the Jell-O shots. Then these dudes actually go inside my house and start looking in every room flipping mattresses and s**t. Like it was a harmless house party on a Saturday night and these fools were acting like I was keeping the End of Watch cartel stash house with severed heads and kilos and ****.

Wow, that's messed up. I thought they could only look at things visible on surfaces...not actually legal for them to rummage/search/open for things. That would require an actual warrant.

Homie destroyed your ****, exhausted himself and needed an All Star Platter for his troubles.

I rolled them down, but the whole exchange was sketchy to me. Obviously had nothing to hide, but always wanted to know if it was required. As for the story...

I left the school library at like 2:30am and got pulled over for applying my blinker late at a turn (totally my fault). Since it was close to campus, dude kept reminding me that only parties were happening at that hour, which eventually turned into questions about drinking. Must've mentioned it like 4 times and made it seem like he wanted me to admit it or something. Whole ordeal lasted like 20-25 mins because he was waiting on backup.

How old were you?

Searching your house was OD but they could have done a lot worse to you if you weren't 21.

I was 21 at the time. I really had nothing to hide, so I wasn't going to make a stink. I remember people throwing their bags of weed and grinders and bowls though and the cops luckily didn't see them.

So what can the cops do if they ask to search your car and you get out and lock the doors?

Keep playin wit the cops like that and you gona put yourself in a ****** up position.

Bring a dog to the scene, get him to false alert (9:00)

And then bust your windows if you don't give them the keys.

Not consenting to searches is more about legally protecting whatever they do find. You yourself may not smoke or whatever (and even if you do, illegally obtained evidence can be thrown out), but you don't know what your friends may have dropped in your car, if you have someone with you, you don't know what they have on them or dropped in the car, and if someone had your car before you bought it, you don't know what's in the cracks and crevices and compartments and detachable parts in your car.

Not consenting is about making whatever search they engage in illegal.

One thing you have to do though is ask if you're being detained and if you're free to go in the 30-45 minutes it takes for them to get the dogs. Once the initial purpose of the stop is served (ticket or whatever) then you gotta try and end that encounter immediately.

Locking your doors will probably not only piss them off and make them more determined to give you a tough time, but also give them more reasonable suspicion that you're trying to hide something, vs. you calmly and non-emotionally saying you don't consent. You wanna try not to get in a contest of who can be more petty with the cops.

Since i get detained everytime anyway, theres really no way for me to refuse.

Matter of fakt, i got pulled over a kouple fridays ago for illegal tags. Right before they stopped us, the kop that detained me, turned right at a stoplight, n i turned left. Me n the homie started klownin how we always dodge a bullet when we chill. Then we turn left to go to the other homies spot, n then 2 of em stop us right before we kan get in the gate. Whooda asks when my tags expired, told him back in february. He asks why i got the tags, i tell him, so they dont pull me over [emoji]128514[/emoji]. Boys detain me n the homie, but luckily everything was well placed. Mutha****a even got rough with me after seein my tats n tightened the **** outta my kuffs. I was ****in bricks, thinkin they gonna either **** us up, take my kar, or, worse, find something n take us in. Kop asked if there was anything illegal in my whip, i told him i didnt kno [emoji]128514[/emoji]. They search, n since my kar was filthy as ****, they kouldnt find anything. So then they try to search my trunk, but its broken n dont open. I kould see the frustration from the backseat [emoji]128514[/emoji]. But, since we kept our kool, were respektful n they were unable to find any kontraband, they let us go with a warning. Lettin me kno depending on who stops me, its a misdemeanor or a felony. Basically, a "lemme katch ya *** again, n ya ****d"

Only been whippin within a few blocks of my spot ever since

**** the police!
