Houston Rockets 2017 Preseason Thread - Spurs MyPlayers Take Over

Lol

Rockets guard Bobby Brown knew what was at stake as the Rockets reached Toronto on Saturday.

Several players around the NBA with non-guaranteed contracts like his were placed on waivers in time to clear waivers before contracts would become guaranteed on Tuesday. Brown was happy to report that his phone did not ring.

"I knew what day it was," Brown said. "I definitely was happy. I talked to my agent (Aaron Mintz) and now can continue to focus on the team, what we've been doing. I'm happy I'm going to be here and focused on doing whatever I can do to help this team, in the locker room, on the court, in practice."
Rookie forward Kyle Wiltjer, who also has a non-guaranteed contract, had been sent to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League, a move that would seem to indicate that the Rockets had no plans to waive him a few days later. But Brown had been cut once this season, when the Rockets matched Donatas Motiejunas' offer sheet. The Rockets brought Brown back days later, but he had often been inactive, even in recent games when guard Pat Beverley was questionable with a sprained right wrist.

Now that he knows he will be sticking around past Tuesday's date for contracts to be guaranteed, Brown said he has been around long enough to know how quickly things can change on the floor.

"That's why you always have to pay attention, listen up to all the scouting reports, just be locked in at all times. You never know when your number is going to be called. I've been around, ups, downs, playing, not playing. I'm going to be ready at all times."

That's wassup for Bobby. He knows the game and ain't Harden his mans? So many untold stories of tryna be on an NBA. At least he can say he made one

Not sure if Brewer or Brewer

Brewer trying not to get traded

The 21-2 run the Hornets went on :x that was brutal. They need to get out of that habit of letting up. That was almost a disaster heading into tomorrow

Not having Capela and having Harrell and Nene in early foul trouble may get us in this one, along with having to play Anderson at the 5

yea, i think you can throw that film away. you got some good material from some of the earlier season games

we gotta bounce back strong against memphis though. they just took an L to OKC, they'll be ready to compete

what game?

b2b caught up, also not having Gordon hurt us.. but meh, no one is worried.. I just thought it was so funny how Thibs always yells.. always micromanaging the game

How the Rockets became darlings of the NBA again
http://hoopshype.com/2017/01/12/the-rockets-are-rolling-and-james-harden-is-the-frontrunner-for-mvp/

I don't know about "NBA darlings", but it would be nice if people would simply be informed about the Rockets instead of spewing the same tired/old narratives that don't even exist anymore. When even Charles Barkley has given some props, you know things have changed. Meanwhile #OnHere you have people saying the team "doesn't play defense", when defense has been key in damn near every one of these wins.

And speaking of defense

I hated watching that game, even up 15 Memphis would never go the **** away. Every game against them has been winnable, and they let Tony Allen of all people get off on them. I think the last game it was Vince Carter or something. I've hated facing Memphis for a long time cause of their sluggish deliberate pace, but they play just a bit uptempo this year to be that much more annoying. Rockets let them get too many boards, and there's no way you should let a sharpshooter like Troy Daniels get open that much.

Why does Brewer continue to get minutes? Is it something I'm just not seeing. He gotten consistent minutes under 3 different coaches

Speaking of minutes.

KJ must be absolutely clueless if he can't get on the court

It's just mind boggling. Even when he does do something good, but backs it up with some garbage. He hit a 3, then blows a layup the next play, then runs down the court in an attempt to block and fouls.

Capela not being g there really hurts us vs teams with more than 1 6'11+ guy. He was able to handle Kat and Boogie, but without him, Gasol and -Bo were just doing too much, whether scoring or keeping possessions alive.

Brewer has nudes of morey. What a frustrating game though this team has a knack for consistently letting up when they build a double digit lead. Gotta learn to put teams away
