Multiple $ources Claim Unhappy Manny Pacquaio $eeks Exit From Oct. 6 PPV Date!
Michael Marley
BoxingConfidential.Com EXCLUSIVE REPORT
9/13/2007
Inflamed sources have told Boxingconfidential.com that boxings recent wave of major fight postponements may not be over. These same knowledgeable sources tell me that the real tsunami may be coming shortly. Word is emanating from Mexico that there is great concern in the camp of Marco Antonio Barrera and elsewhere that a troubled Manny Pacquaio is trying to find a way to wriggle out of their Oct. 6 pay-per-view fight in Las Vegas.
Its all on Pacmans side but the word is filtering out of Mexico, out of MABs camp, one source said. They have not mentioned a word of this to Marco because he is training like a mad monk and they dont want him to lose his mental or physical edge. Some people associated with the WBC are hearing the same rumors."
So why would the Pinoy ring idol, said to be in fantastic physical form as a result of daily drills with taskmaster trainer Freddie Roach, want not a weigh-in but a way out of the huge fight to be co-promoted by Top Rank and Goldern Boy?
No one seems to have a certain reason but its clear that Manny believes that the recent business marriage of Bob Arum and Oscar de la Hoya has been to his financial detriment. He is not happy with the money GBP and TR want to pay him. He thinks theyve cut what he should be getting paid to cover their respective legal bills which are huge, a second insider said. Manny sees a guy like Ricky Hatton getting an $8 million guarantee and wonders why he isnt getting a lot more than that. Manny believes he should be getting Floyd Mayweather type millions."
Its been said that Megamanny will relocate training to LA on Sept. 22 but the doubters say dont hold your breath on that one. They think the PPV date will blow up just like the Sept. 15 (GBP only) Juan Manuel Marquez-Rocky Juarez show did. Much of that card is now being sideloaded, with fighters getting purse haircuts unless GBP shoulders the pain, to Showtime for Nov. 3.
Manny wants out of this fight unless they ratchet up the pay, a third source told me. This is the negative feedback that has circulated into the Barrera camp. Marco is not going to take less money to satisfy Manny, certainly not at this near the end stage of his illustrious career.
Manny may come up with a way out of the fight. He might get a cold or have walking pneumonia all of a sudden. Manny has told some friends he is having financial problems but the friends think its really his unhappiness with the two promoters. If they dont make a big adjustment to Mannys purse, hell call in sick or come up with an injury.
I guess a tiny cut on the right hand won't "cut it" since Marquez just that excuse to postpone the title challenge by Juarez.

PACQUIAO FLATLY DENIES RUMORS
By Emmanuel B. Villaruel
PhilBoxing.com
Sat, 15 Sep 2007
Filipino sports hero Manny Pacquiao vehemently denied rumors that he thinks on backing out of his highly-anticipated rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera slated on October 6 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Citing unnamed sources, Michael Marley of boxingconfidential.com reported that Pacquiao plans to pull out of the huge Pay-Per-View card co-promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions if he isn't paid right.
But Pacquiao quickly doused cold water on the rumor mill saying it has no basis and untrue.
"I'm surprised to hear that news. I don't have any idea where it came from. There's no truth about it," said Pacquaio prior to his heavy workout yesterday at the RWS Gym. "All I can say is that I prepared hard for my fight against Barrera."
The news also caught Pacquiao's celerated American trainer Freddie Roach by surprise.
"I've known Marley for years, but I don't know what he's up to. Manny is doing fine, everything is fine. We've got no problem and Manny is very focused on the Barrera right," said Roach.
Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud, Pacquiao's confidant and business partner, said the rumors maybe circulated by some quarters whose motive is to distract the Pacman at this crucial stage of his training.
"I was really shocked by the report. It's totally untrue. Whoever spread that rumor just wanted to distract Manny knowing that he's very focused on his upcoming rematch with Barrera," said Salud.
In his report, Marley's source insinuated that "Manny believes that the recent business marriage of Bob Arum and Oscar de la Hoya has been to his financial detriment and that he is not happy with the money GBP and TR want to pay him." A third source reportedly told Marley that Manny wants out of this fight unless they ratchet up the pay.
But Pacquiao's chief-of-staff Jake Joson doubts the veracity of the claims of Marley's sources saying that Pacquiao doesn't usually discuss money matters whenever he has a fight.
"When Manny fights, he doesn't talk about money. What he thinks first is to give honor and pride to our country," said Joson. "With regards to financial matters, there are certain people who are taking care of it. That's why Manny handles a lot of people."
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum also came to Pacquiao defense, quashing off rumors that "Pacquaio is seeking more money or an exit from the Oct. 6 bout against Marco Antonio Barrera."
Where these rumors started or why, I dont understand. Mannys been a perfect gentleman and Freddie Roach tells me he is training like an animal, said Arum. Manny is extraordinarily happy with this deal. Manny and Top Rank are getting the lions share of the total percentage on this fight.
Arum also flatly denied being asked by Pacquiao of US$1 million advance payment.
That is not true, either. He never asked me for a million bucks. We just finalized some things the other day, Manny wanted $200,000 as an advance and I sent it out to him per Nevada law. I just spoke, minutes ago, with Freddie and with (attorney) Jeng Gacal and they told me Manny is fine, he is feeling and looking great.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao logged 10 more rounds of torrid sparring yesterday - four against Raymundo Beltran and three each against Arniel Tinampay and David Rodela. Overall, Pacman has already sparred 78 rounds.
Pacquiao's excellent form impressed Games and Amusement Board (GAB) chairman Eric Buhain, who was at a special ringside seat
watching the Pacman train. "Pacquiao is in great shape. He was just playing with his sparmates," he said. "I'm here to let Pacquiao know that we're one in supporting him in this important fight of his career."

In a recent press release, famed trainer of Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach confessed they had a spy in Marco Antonio Barrera's camp. The spy secretively video taped Barrera's work outs.
"We have had a mole inside the Barrera camp for the past month, secretly video taping Barrera's workouts. We call the mission Patriot Games," confessed Freddie. "Barrera has been looking phenomenal, the best he has looked in years. After seeing what his game plan would be we developed a new weapon for Manny to counter anything Barrera throws at Manny. It's called 'The Marco Bolo.' It's the perfect complement to
Manny's vaunted left hook and the infamous 'Manila Ice.' Manny is still a work in progress, continuously evolving into the most ferocious fighting machine in the sport today. We have yet to see the best of Manny Pacquiao, and that's saying a lot since he's already the most exciting fighter in the world. Manny is prepared for the battle of his life."
To me, my opinion is that Freddie Roach has proven to be a cheater. I do not find anything cool or classy in sending a spy and then bragging about it in public. To me it is just outright pathetic that they need to resort to this tactic and to me it is nothing short of cheating.
Personally, I do feel that Pacquiao will lose his fight against Barrera this time. Let us not forget that before their last fight, Barrera was hit with a fire that made him evacuate his training camp midway through. Add to that, his medical records were unfairly disclosed in the media by a writer who in my opinion had no right to post personal medical information on Barrera. Apparently the leaked medical information indicated that Barrera has a metal plate in his head. The fire in training camp and the abuse from the media over his PRIVATE medical issues.... It was no small wonder that the Barrera we saw show up in the first fight resembled nothing we have accustomed ourselves too. So for any of you who think Barrera was beaten by Pacquiao... that is not the case... Pacquiao is not nearly as good as many of you have been
lead to think. With a natural disaster messing with his training camp and then all the stress brought on by leaked medical info.... Barrera beat himself.
The Barrera who will show up this time will knock the block off Pacquiao. No fire in his camp, and no goofy media attacks over his personal health and medical issues this time around. If Roach was so sure that Barrera will be an easy fight for Pacquiao....then there would be no need to send a spy into Barrera's camp.
Roach can also make up all they pretty little names he want, such as "Manila Ice" and "Marco Bolo".... but let us not forget that Vanila Ice was a "one Hit Wonder" and Marco Polo is a blind man's game.
My final thoughts and opinions: Pacquiao's days are numbered and this time Barrera wins.... and hopefully we will all see Pacquiao for what his is worth....Media Hype Job.
NT on trying to make your own media hype job come on now proven cheater? Knock the block off?? Come on now is this guy mad at roach or something sounds kind of salty.

that being the Taylor-Pavlik fight. Anyone else pumped? Thoughts/opinions?
I actually have tickets for this fight and will be heading to Atlantic City on the 29th to watch it live.
Even if I didn't have tickets I would still be pumped to watch this fight. Taylor is finally fighting a legit middleweight and a legit tough test in Pavlik. I think that Taylor wins in a split decision but I don't think it would surprise anyone on this board if Pavlik walks away with the W.
Also, Gunna's boy Berto is on the undercard going against a very tough fighter in Estrada who has been in there with Sugar Shane and Kermit Cintron so it will be interesting to see if Berto walks through him like his other opponents.

Nice, I'm jealous! This is probably a bargain compared to the other fights. I think the most expensive ticket in the house is only $400 compared to $1000 or so for the larger fights that are less promising.
