Bron, KD, Melo, CP3, Harden, Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Bosh, Noah, Curry, Blake, Horford, Dirk, PG24, Drummond, Greg Monroe, Al Jefferson, Aldridge, (healthy) Rondo, (healthy) Kobe, (healthy) D Rose.1. effort on the boards, how many guys above 7-1 were incredible rebounders? unless you are freak athlete being 7-1 limits your mobility. hibberts probably about average.I'm not saying he doesnt impact the game.
He does, he is an integral cog in the defense....but his effort on the boards, and his skill on offense is easily below average. I dont see why its hard to see why I have a problem with him being incredibly poor on that end of the floor.
And yes, box score stats have to tell the tale. Roy Hibbert, one of the best defenders in the league, gave up 16 and 6 to his match up (who averages 6 and 3 for the season). Yes, I expect that Roy Hibberts defense will be able to trump Pero Antic's offense. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations, but he doesnt meat the criteria for a star. I appreciate what he does for my squad on defense, but in an offense with a few shaky shooters, I need Hibbert to provide a legit low post offensive threat, both to score, and on the glass.
2. box score stats are useless for evaluating defense, like completley useless, this isn't 1999 where the NBA was mostly one on one.
if hibbert was what you described he would be a top 3 players in the league, boo hoo for you that he's only top 15.
Golden State could offer some combination of Lee/Klay/Barnes.. plus some picks from a third team. That's more along the lines of what Minny would be looking to get back. Guys who they can build a good team around moving forwardChicago, Phoenix, Golden State, to name a few. And Love has a much higher chance in resigning with those organizations than Toronto.
what the hell does golden state have?
Phoenix I would agree, but not by much.
Chicago has a risk averse ownership so I don't think they would do it without assurance he would resign, and i don't think you would ever get that.
5th 30-10 game in his last 9.Al Jefferson with 32/12/7. He's had some crazy #s this season.

You mean jerseys we WON'T buy....If the NBA places ads on jerseys, do you think the jerseys we buy will also have the ads on them?

People would still buy them though
If you really think Roy Hibbert is a top 15 player based solely on his defense, then what value do you place on hyper efficient offensive players who only play that side of the ball? Are they top 15 too?
Or is the defensive value of a center the reason you think he's a top 15 player?
Also.. What about those elite defensive wings like Tony Allen, and Bruce Bowen of the past. I'm sure you wouldn't consider them top 15 players based on one side of the ball. Would you?

all players I'm taking over Hibbert, probably quite a few I didnt think of off top. The injured dudes are obviously not really in play I guess, but still. And Hibbert might be interchangeable with a couple of those dudes, but the point remains, dude isnt good enough to be considered more than a defensive specialist.
Theres nothing wrong with being a defensive specialist by the way.
They don't even know who they're supposed to be guarding half the time. They switch unnecessarily, double unnecessarily, screw up rotations, lose track of someone, point at each other to try to figure out whose man is scoring, and repeat.Knicks don't play defense ?
while hibbert would be a top defender anywhere, playing in the pacers defensive system really brings out the best of roy hibbert when it comes to defense
he fits perfectly with the rest of the team (partly because they build their defense around him) and the other 4 guys are good enough at scoring to make up for is average offensive game
he's like a "z" in scabble, may not fit into a lot of words but when you do find the perfect fit he gives you lots in return
