Clips being the most hated team is comical to me. I became a fan about a year or two ago....but as a very neutral observer, this team wasn't crying or flopping more than any other team. And yes, they do whine a lot and have a culture of it.....but other teams do it just as much.

The media narrative has ALOT to do with this. First...after Blake Griffin didn't live up to some insane projections after his outstanding rookie year, he was pegged as "soft" and someone that "didn't show up in the playoffs", "most overrated player in the league", "hasn't improved", and "all he does is dunk". These lines of thinking were false and very premature. Then the hate from Blake shifted to cp3 who people have now come to wrongfully accept as overrated. A lot of this hate came slowly in the form that he got "passes" for not having deep playoff runs. Basically, advancing one more round.

Then, there was a notion that the Clippers were "stacked", which is completely false. There's still that notion today that they are "The most stacked team in the league". This is a team that features a 38 yr old Pierce, 36 year old Crawford and Austin Rivers, Lance Stephenson and Wes Johnson as key contributors.

This has been a 2nd to almost 1st tier Western Conference team since Cp3 got there. Realistically, they've been the 3rd best team in the conference behind the Spurs and OKC...and typically...that's where they finished. This is a team with a great starting 5, and horrible bench. The narrative was if this team is so good, and cp3 is such a great PG....then there's no way this team hasn't gotten past the 2nd round. Not realizing Chris Paul or Blake Griffin aren't better than the Spurs or Kevin Durant and the Thunder.

Then there was the notion that "lob city" was just a fast paced team that couldn't beat a team grind it out team like "Memphis"....despite the fact that they best Memphis and had a good half court offense. And everybody that used to like "lob city"....now started to hate the more serious approach. now was tuned into constant talking heads calling Cp3 "Cp0"....coming up with this conference finals or you suck rhetoric...and constant vines of Cp3 and Blake flopping. You see that everyday, combined with the epic collapses last year + the meme and vine culture....and it's understandable why it's easy to hate this team. Bandwagon mindless hate to me.

Most people that I've found that hate the Clippers are either Lakers Fans, watch first take religiously, follow skip on Twitter, let Vines tell them the whole story, and rely on team stream apps to give them updates....which is about 85% of NBA fans .

Clips the past 4 years have been a team that's been unclutch, unlucky and tight in big moments. Has this team chocked? Yes. Should they have made a conference finals appearance by now? Maybe. But the notion that this team is "trash" and "a joke" is foolish.

too long, didn't read. team is cheeks doh.

you dont need a good pg to win chips....

This just isn't true

how?

lakers bruh. out side of the magic years, and before that, we've only ever had serviceable pg's. fisher would never be considered 'good'...he was always 'jus aight'

even the heat, top 10 mario chalmers hardly had any usage rate.

You dont need a good pg to win, you just need good players and a solid system.

Lakers are an outlier. Heat have this guy, LeBron James. He was their pg. Even if we took those teams and let's say the Jordan bulls...STILL remains an untrue statement. Pretty much every team ever had a good pg. What you need is a GREAT player...regardless of position

Too much logic and sense in here for it to be accepted by most people in here (e.g. Freeze's post below), but repped for the effort.

Heat, Bulls, Mavs, Lakers, Rockets, the first Spurs title didnt have great pgs.

Imo there isn't any proven formula to winning championships, besides having superstars and a great defense and offense built around them.

fisher n parker have how many rings? you peeps just need to stop with the linear analysis.

think its safe to say that you just gotta do what u gotta do as a team to win. fisher aint gonna post up dudes and try dream shake people with shaq, n kobe.

its the reason why guys like harper, horry, shaw, gino, parker, TD all have rings..

just fill your role.

Basically.

The only real formula for winning an NBA championship is at least one superstar, good timely role players, good coach, good bench, continuity, chemistry and a top 10 offense & defense.

All of the champs have that makeup.

agree and all of the champs don't have a make up as a pass first point guard being their superstar or even their top 2 player

To be more concise:

Two top ten players, one really good third wheel, a solid to great all time coach, competent role players and an overall top eight team offense and defense.

Since we started this talking about wall, this right here is EXACTLY why KD is so coveted for them or Melo before him.

Skill wise, I hope my PG can handle the ball, shoot a jumper, hit FTs, and play defense. I don‘t him taking shots, but need him to run the offense by making the defense react a certain way, then setting things up.

Magic would like to have a word with you
Right.

The set up that @PMatic  just laid out is more important that narrowing it down to "pass first" "shoot first" and all of that ****.

The recent examples are coincidences. It's not like that proves "shoot first pg is what wins championships" and that's some standard rule teams should follow.
