they had to sacrifice the negative space where the yellow is in order to compensate for the wider orange parts.

This swallows up space for the perforations (in white) at the forefoot

all because they wanted to avoid fixing the collar.

On second thought no, the dimensions are there, its in the design. They got lazy. Its not a variation.

This would be a closer comparison in regard to space. The indentation part just is what it is. Not even the 2000 was as deep as the 1991
