Seriously? Did the a/c break? How hot is it?
I'm from Georgia and have lived in South Carolina for the past 14 years. We have never once had a school shutdown because of heat unless the a/c unit went down.

no way in hell schools closed for heat when I was in high school but you also needed like 6 inches of snow for a 2 hour delay
