i believe it was said that only shop collabs would come with fat tongues from now on. im guessing thats only if the shops choose to go the fat tongue route.

well if this is the case , it's grail chasing time . 9th Wonder was also saying dunk highs were gonna start being produced with sock-liner tongues. It sounds like nike sb it truly losing it's touch .

Those Ross-esque joints are so sexy...will be doubled (at least) in time.

If I'm not mistaken, these are the first pair of non IW branded lows with the thin tongue, but will be the norm for ALL lows moving forward other than QSs.

guess I'm sticking to quickstrikes next year . And the high tops are also getting a new tongue right ? How the hell can a sockliner even be incorporated into a dunk high ? I can't even picture it

honestly the laces and outsole don't match at all , but I think they look better with the black laces. Sneaker freaker posted a pic on Instagram of the black boxes on foot and he lace swapped and they looked pretty tough

I guess Dooms came with flat laces? I don't care for flat laces in any shoe (if I can help it)

About the lows with thin tongues, I mentioned this previously about them removing the IW branding and keeping fat tongues for the "QS" pairs that they'll be releasing less frequently. Sock liner? I believe I was referring to a pic I saw of a dunk high sb with a sock like ankle collar, similar to the Koston 3.

Here's my take on black boxes.. They're pretty solid, if you also have dooms they're a bit of a letdown, which should be expected. If you don't have the dooms, I'd say you'd be pretty pleased. The suede isn't fantastic, but it's not bad either. Leather feels decent as well, tongue material is much softer and squishier on the black boxes compared to dooms, which isn't a bad thing. Didn't see a lot of flaws and cosmetic errors on any of the pairs I looked at.

Overall I'll give them a 8/10 as far as dunks go this year, definitely up there... Honestly the dopest part for me was seeing getting handed a black SB box from the stock room lol.

Hoping for some decent 2017 releases, but I've seen some pics of upcoming drops and it ain't pretty

I kind of agree with you. I really wanted to and still want to like these, but I don't know. The more I see the execution, the more I think I like the other 3 more.

In other news, rocked the SPoT Cigars today. God I love this pair/concept!
