when you guys are done debatin and deliberatin, can you tell me if this is good or not? (I have insurance, but I wanna know would it be beneficial if I wanted insur but had no job supplying it)

It starts October 1, nobody on a sneaker forum can tell you what's good for you. Especially with something like health insurance.

Walmart is responsible for almost half of the TOP TEN most wealthy Americans. Walmart is synonymous with greed. Look at the people they choose to employ, no offense to anyone that works there. But the point is they're not very selective when it comes to hiring. Spending money on "talent" is of no interest to them. They find people that will work for nothing, who they can let go at anytime and replace with the next warm body. Its a ******g DISGRACE that a company this successful would use the ACA as just another excuse to **** on its workers. The cost to insure their workers is peanuts to them, they're just that big of scumbags.

And as far as "impoverished" goes, you couldn't be more incorrect. My friend with diabetes works full time and is far from impoverished, but because of her medical history can't get an affordable rate for insurance. My daughters grandmother also works fulltime but her employer doesn't provide coverage and she's been struggling to find coverage. The same goes for those self employed or temporarily unemployed. This is far from a "poor mans bill".

don't know why people keep saying this, walmart switch to not hiring full time around 2008 and been cutting hours since 2009. this bill isn't making them do anything.

also, they now have department managers running more than 1 department and everyone is register trained so they don't have to hire cashiers. its been that way for 2 years at least.

Some media outlets are pawning it off as a "poor mans bill" aside from those who can get govt assitance.

Just heard that Walmart is actually INCREASING jobs. There was a release saying they're moving 35,000 part-timers to full-timers and will be hiring 35,000 more part-timers.

And all these companies pretending to cut jobs because of the ACA are so full of ****. Companies have been trying to cut costs and increase profits since before Obama even took office. Whether it be out sourcing, using cheaper materials (see Jordan Brand), or hiring people that don't demand a certain wage. Greed is a disgusting disease.

And yeh, I mentioned that the other day -- how the Walmart clan accounts for damn near half of the Top 10 richest Americans. I was looking at the Forbes list and noticed "Walmart" all down the top of the list. I wanna say they were all worth roughly $33 BILLION a piece. Just ONE of those ******** could cover the insurance for all their workers globally and not even notice the charge coming out of their accounts.

I'm wondering what incentive there is to get insurance before getting ill if they can't deny pre-existing conditions? the fine for noncompliance can't be more than a monthly premium, right?

Having insurance companies compete is a great thing IMO, I thought the GOP and Tea Party were all about the 'free market'.

That doesn't make any sense on UPS' part if true. They've been giving full and part time employees benefits forever through any increase, and the employees are protected by unions.

News flash, there's never been a 'free market' in the insurance market. The fine has been rescinded the first year, and do you know how much the fine is? It's probably cheaper for you to get an insurance plan than to pay the fine.

I thought personally responsibility was part of the deal? Isn't that one of the GOP/Tea Party motto's?

I personally want a single payer system.

and ftr there was a free market in the insurance market. go back to the 50s and 60s and you will see how they operated.
