So I'm just getting started on midsole swapping a pair of SC's that were retroe'd in 2000. First off, the EVA foam (or phylon..whichever it is) is the gummiest, puddy-like mess that I've dealt with. And I've had plenty of other crumbles from that same era, bit this one was different.

Also, I came to find out that these used to have an air unit.in the forefoot as well. Took some pics to share while I was at it.

Thank you! It'll be a while until I complete them. I'm doing about 3 personal pairs and 4 other orders, so I'll be taking my time.

Which donor sole do you plan on using?

That's a great question. I thought I could use this newer release, but now that I've seen the air unit, it's more of a hot red/orange. Sooooo....I may be seeking out a pair of reverse Auburns. They're goin for less and less these days...but still like $140. That's a lot for a donor.

This other color on the newer retro is too salmon-like. Only $70 for the donor cost on these.

?... Go for the most recent and cheapest, fitting, anf have it painted afterwards. Color under the waffle sole wont matter.

I would be tempted if they were my size, but $700 is crazy. The seller is out of his mind. But I can understand, it's a hard to find shoe in that condition.

The flipside to that is that it's a shoe that hit outlets and if it retroed today it will hit outlets again.

Price dropped to $300 with offers accepted. Bet you could get them for the low $200's.
