one example is what happened to @SunDOOBIE. as @moonman818 said earlier, them forcibly taking your car when you did nothing wrong is grand theft. the problem is, the onus is on the car owner to prove that you weren't illegally parked. the reality is, it can be extremely difficult to prove with evidence that you were good, even if you did everything by the book. In sundoobie's case, he had a parking permit allowing him to park. Tow company will say "we didnt see a permit so we towed it, prove that the pass was there". How are you going to prove it after the fact? Even if the pass was inside of the car when you picked it up, they can just say some BS like "the pass was not visible when we arrived, its your responsibility to place it where it is easily seen". It comes down to a he said she said scenario. The problem is, your car is already in impound accruing daily storage fees while you struggle to prove something that is damn near impossible to prove. Most people just get fed up with it and pay the fees to get the car out since that is easier than proving that you got wronged. ALL that being said, even if you were somehow miraculously able to prove that they illegally towed and impounded your car, BEST case is you get your money back. Does the tow truck driver or the tow company owner get arrested for grand theft? Hell no. Its basically a no harm no foul situation for them. Why wouldnt they be incentivized to randomly tow cars on a whim? Best case they bleed a few hundred bucks out of a person who just wants the problem to go away. Worst case, they get someone who wants to fight them on it and they return the car and money and move on to the next target.

another scam i've seen pulled by tow companies is also related to illegally towing your car. A lot of tow companies also operate as repair shops (or they work closely with repair shops). The tow guy will tow a car to his shop or lot (or that of his buddy's) and just let it sit there and accrue storage fees without giving proper notice to the registered owner or lienholder (f it is financed). Eventually the owner or the finance company will find out where the car is, but by then they will state that their is a ridiculous storage/impound fee on it. They will hold the car hostage unless you pay the exhorbitant fee. If you choose not to pay the fee, they will put a mechanics lien on the car title, consider it repo'd, apply for a repo title, and then sell it at auction to recoup the fees they say they are owed.

seeing this thread just solidifies my theory that white women age horribly.

im in south carolina and these women are getting married as soon as they hit 20 or earlier, 

it seems like they start to panic because their subpar looks start to deteriorate at lighting speed.

meanwhile the sistas and other groups are looking better as they age.

chick up there looks like ving rhames in the face.
