HDTV & Audio FAQ, Accessories and TV area setup Official Post Vol. That time again...

Yeah and both cables work fine with the bluray.

The HDMI was working fine before I unplugged everything.

I had my cable box hooked up to my surround sound before it blew out.

Bought them from monoprice.

Believe it or not, i like the LG over the Samsung. I feel like that a550 from Samsung is nothing special. I like the TV, its great, but the LG out preforms it.

Video output options:

DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (optional)

VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (optional)

Dual-link DVI output using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter (optional)
Ok now here's my problem...

I got an HDMI to DVI Cable today, just tried it and it's not working.

Basically my Desktop comes up on my HDTV but the DVD I'm playing on my MBP doesn't show up on my TV. Now when I open VLC Media Player and select"Full Screen" my HDTV Screen goes blank, so I pick a Porn movie to play and while it plays on my MBP my HDTV Screen is blank again.

I don't think the onboard video can handle resolutions that big

I need a very slim ( enough to fit a PS3 ) tv stand . Where I'm moving I wont be able to mount my tv in my room. All the stands I have looked at are prettybulky./

Finally posting a pic of my setup after installing it a month back.

Is there a big noticable difference between 720 and 1080? I had my sights set on a 32 inch LCD HDTV that is 720. Any help would be appreciated.

From what Ive read..anything smaller then a 42inch you cant tell the differnce between 720 and 1080..

Finally got some new pics of my setup

37Inch Toshiba 1080i
HD Cable Box
Sony CT-100 Sound Bar (This thing rocks, the only sound bar with 3hdmi inputs, it got better reviews then soundbars 3 times as much) If you have a small roomand what something nice this is the way to go..and its under 300
Sony Ps3..Mostly used for Blu-ray..and as my main DVD player
Wii
Xbox 360..
Harmony 550 Universal remote..Everybody should cop one of theese

I've heard great stuff about monoprice's TV mounts. A lot of people like them even better than BB, CC stuff.

I swooped that TV up like a week ago... It's pretty good for the price. I paid $750 at Costco and it includes a free two year extendedwarranty.

Basically if you're using it for Blu-Rays, DVD's and Gaming then this TV is the TRUTH... But if you're watching regular cable tv without a hi defbox then the tv blows(lots of blur spots)... Hopefully I get my hi def box from comcast real soon tho.

MHT214- thanks, the panasonic plasma's great

If i wanted to connect my laptop, which only has a VGA port, to a tv with only HDMI,component, and s-video,
am i pretty much stuck having to buy a VGA/HDMI converter or are there any alternatives? thanks in advance.

Just a heads up...Circuit City might be liquidating later this week. If so, look for some extreme discounts happening in the next few weeks
