8/256 is sufficient now, but since RAM is soldered into Macbooks, you might want to consider 16GB.
What would you ever need 32gb of RAM for lol.I bought a maxed MB Pro Unibody back in fall of 2008 and it still runs okay. 4GBs of RAM is a bit low right now and it does cause me issues at times. I could upgrade it to the 6GBs that is the max amount that the chipset handles, but at this point there isn't a point I feel.
I do need a new one, but I'm waiting for next years Intel chips to go live before I do that (not the ones revealed last week, but the generation after that). I also want Apple to offer 32 GBs of RAM before I make the plunge
Yeah, unfortunately they do.Damn, they solder the RAM now?
I couldn't find an official Macbook thread and didn't want to make a thread so hopefully I can get some answers here:
I just got the 13in with Retina mid 2014. Processor 2.6GHz with i5. 8GB 1600.
I'm new to the Apple world. Can someone recommend some must have apps?
Anyone use Bitdefender?
Hiddenapp?

For the Adobe suite you're going to want at least 8gigs of memory and you're not going to find any used unibody mac with that much RAM for under $800. However if you stretch your budget to around $1000 there are some great Macbook options for your girl.NT help me out - my girl wants to do Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design and I'm going to pick her up a laptop before I head out of the US (more expensive abroad). The Macbook Pro seems the right choice. It's mind boggling all the different options though. This will be the first Apple product I've ever bought so have no idea what I need. There seem to be similar configs with multiple years of production (e.g., 2010, 2011, etc).
Could someone tell me what the best I could get for around $800 would be? I have no idea how the pricing works on Macbooks and it's varied all over the web when I look around.
Also, any good places to buy a used Macbook Pro? I semi don't want to deal with Craigslist because I don't know anything about Apple stuff.
From reading online about what specs I need (i7, SSD, 8GB+ ram)
These both are retina display I assume...

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/sys/5190037550.html
Which one of those would be better? What should I check/ask on email?
you need srs power in your laptop like that?
13 inch MBP Retina i7/16gb/dual core ($1,850) or 15 inch MBP retina i7/16gb/quad core ($1,740)
They're this years latest models. Both with 256gb ssd.
I prefer the size of the 13 and feel like 15 is overkill when it comes to screen size.
But 15 inch is slightly cheaper and a quad core :/
Thoughts? Thanks in advance
this is a good thread
