is food really killing us? vol. vegan

Not to mention those fake meat products a lot of vegans eat are HORRIBLE for you.

My seventh day adventist friends eat this stuff everyday, it so bad for you. High in sodium, soy and all manner of preservatives and chemicals. :x

If I'm gonna be eating all that, might as well get real bacon. :smh:

vegans annoy me

i actually went to a natrual foods expo this year and talked to many of them

i wasnt rude, but trust they are delusional and lacking vitamins. i played along

All I know is when I eat home cooked food in the west indies I shed like 5lbs in two weeks. Not even doing nothing extra. Something in this American food that is no bueno.
Probably why the EU has bans on many american farm exports.
Assuming you are Black, West Indian food is closest to West African food than American food.
Sig check. I am very aware. Our general culture has a lot of visible links to West Africa (beyond what some of us look like).

They when I go back to the island I lose a couple pounds right away.

I just eat a ton of fish, ground provisions, vegetables, and freshly picked fruit. I when I say freshly picked, I mean in my back yard.

But I will admit it is not full proof, West Indians still struggle with high blood pressure and a lot. Diabetes too, but not so much than as African Americans from what I have noticed.

Still a lot of white breads, and sugary drinks in the islands. And the rum

Yea....they've started importing more american drivel for name brand status....let me not get started on that.

That rum....so bad..but so good.

I need to pay a visit to granny...her cooking is A1.

Pork gets a bad rep, lean pork is actually a good option for protein. A lean pork chop is no more or less healthy than baked chicken.

I dont doubt it, i just dont enjoy most pork meals besides ribs and bacon, and i rather have beef ribs.

I thought I was the only one, I actually prefer beef ribs to pork but I don't enjoy most beef meals.

Why hasn't anyone tried to  make bacon out of beef? :nerd:

They actually make Beef Bacon, I bought some from Publix a while back, actually tastes great, its a tad "tougher" than pork bacon though. Only time I really eat beef is for steaks, burgers, and ribs, outside of that I can go weeks/months not really eating it.

I like pork alright. But I can't stand pork chops. I don't care how great they are cooked and not dry. I just don't like biting into solid big pieces of pork. It has to be pulled or real thinly sliced like they do in Asian food.

Chicken is my favorite protein though.

ah i see

yeah I know what you mean, anythign that thick hardly has any flavour in the middle

might as well get a nice juicy thick steak

Yeah that's exactly why I don't like it. Just chewing on flavorless pork is gross as hell. Unless it's cured in herbs for a day or two is going to be gross.

I feel you on not eating beef much lucky. I don't really eat much steak. Maybe twice a year, all the beef I eat is burgers once in a while.

Been eating Paleo for like 6months...dropped 30 lbs off the top, and feel GREAT. Peep the doc "the perfect human diet". People just don't know how to eat. Cut out all the sugar, and processed crap. Only thing I allow myself is a beer every now and then.

I cut out red meat and pork and limited processed chicken/turkey.

Straight vegan tho? Nah, fam. I havent personally came across enough research to prove going vegan is going to make some huge health improvement. What I cant stand is how some vegans are so pressed to tell you they're vegan. You be having a convo about the weather next thing you know "meat is awful!". Chill, b. Live and let live.

i low key want to try this

been cutting out all sugary drinks, processed snacks and alcohol and I feel great

I still need to try Kangaroo. I got delayed with that plan from my accident.

Leafy greens are the key IMO. Triple up on portions. I'll have a ribeye and pile of spring mix. Or Carne asada tacos, sans the tortilla, wrapped in lettuce. Sometimes I just crave lettuce and will eat it by the handful. Crazy how your body adapts.

Paleo is actually something I respect as its just keeping it basic. I just bought an "alkaline diet cook book", while I dont buy the hype for the alkaline stuff since your body can regulate PH naturally, I was still interested in some good recipes for non meat meals where I can just add 4-8 oz of grilled meat on the side and enjoy with.

I don't eat pork for religious reasons, but I've reduced my beef and lamb intake over the past few months. Turkey, chicken and fish are my main protein sources

I've done the opposite.

After years of not eating beef, I'm eating it every day like a prisoner eats his last meal. Real spit, just finished a beef brisket & cheddar sandwich from Firehouse subs and a bowl of chili.

Still don't eat pork. IDK, one of those things....I'm not muslim anymore but I got a mental block. Like if I take a bite out of something that normally has pork but I ask for no pork but they still put pork in it and I accidentally bite in w/o looking, I be acting like I got poisoned.

Gasping, wheezing, spitting, chugging water....... Appetite be ****** off too. :smh:

I got a couple buddies like that too . Dudes will drink, go to strip clubs and casinos, **** girls but will refuse to eat pork. That's where they draw the line and take a stand

 Astaghfirullah, pork? I'm trying to tell you about how I ****** Aisha last night and you're talking about pork?

Interesting thread. I would consider my pops one of those health freaks who believes processed foods cause cancer and whatnot. Which may have some truth to it, the chemicals in foods most likely trigger our cancer cells and activate them.

I tried being vegetarian this past week, man it was tough, the first 3 days I was feeling good, I was hungrier of course and lacked protein. I eventually cave in 2 days ago when I had chicken for dinner. It's an interesting lifestyle, I'll probably start back up again on saturday or sunday.

I truly believe your overall health comes from eating lean meats, and green vegetables. You should probably consume fruit at a low rate due to the sugars in them. I haven't eaten pork in over a year and half now, and have lowered my red meat intake. Leaving me to eat a lot of seafood, turkey, and chicken. I've felt healthier for sure.

Yea bro for real like are we just going off "EDUCATED OPINIONS" or Real actual studies that shows going vegan is actually great for you....People have always consumed meat since the beginning of time...
