Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Qurstion for you guys, I have an interview this Friday and want to get a decent slim fit suit because all the suits I own right now are chopper suit status. Where can I go? I was gonna check out Macys and Mens Warehouse but any other suggestions are greatly apprecaited.
Kohls. They are my go-to for my work apparel. Not the flashiest stuff, but for the prices you can't beat it.

Good looks you guys. I could make my current resume into a general template if someone really needs it. Its within a table on MS word so it stays unifrom but all the borders are invisible so they dont come out when you print it, save it to PDF, or send it to someone.

Burlington has decent suits and an in-house tailor. You're cutting it short w/ trying to get a suit now, usually u will want the suit altered. My wife got me one for Father's Day and it took two weeks for alterations b/c of how backed up they were at Jos A. Bank

Try Macys, Men's Wearhouse, Jos A. Bank, Burlington those are the best spots.

In other news, my boy put me onto some info about his gig looking for a van driver. He plugged me in with one of the people that does the hiring and I talked to her about the position. Hopefully something good comes from this but until it does, I'll keep applying to places....Still waitin for the National Guard to get my medical records so I can enlist.

Take it to a local tailor. The turnaround is quicker. Would never do it at a store like Macy's or Jos A Bank.

yeah the suit i bought  from macy's needed to be tailored. use yelp to help you find a local tailor.

mines charged me almost $90 but i had some major alterations and turnaround was 4 days.

The power of craigslist is very real. I just finished my interview in awaiting my ID badge. Sorry guys . I'm checking out of this thread. I just got hired fulltime for $2 more an hour than I made at my last job.

So thankful to everyone for the pointers.
Everyone else stay up. And never give up, its all possible if you stay motivated.

Went to a company job fair, did a pre-screen interview for a Help Desk Specialist position. Hope to hear something back.

Hey, so to be honest I can't imagine what it's like to not have a job, I'd probably go crazy.
However, I want to help anyone willing to help themselves. I work for Sears and I'm trying to find different avenues with which to recruit people.
I'm located in NY, if anyone needs any help just send me a message, I'm a manager who has a tremendous amount of pull.
I want to try and help people out, I wish everyone the best of luck because to me, being jobless scares me and would not wish it upon people.

Put in 3 apps last week. Got 2 interviews this week. Keep it up fellas and you will see results

applied for a job about month ago. didnt think much of it as time passed, but they called back last week and left a message on my phone. didnt even know they left one, hopefully, it's not too late to contact them. >D

If you need a suit for an interview, try to get it tailored. For most, a nice shirt and tie that fit should be enough. But don't take any shortcuts if you're lucky enough to get an interview. Make sure it's perfectly pressed and ironed, make sure you have a pen with you and some copies of your resume, make sure you've prepared answers to the most common interview questions. Research the company and try to find their mission statement or something to give you an idea of what they believe, anything will help.

Today was my first full day not counting the interviews and training at my new job after not having worked for way too long. I'm tired as hell but it feels pretty great. Same story as a lot of people.. tons of applications or attempts and nothing in return. Then you get a chance and I made sure I didn't blow it.

All you can do is keep plugging away and try to be optimistic that your time will come.

They probably moved on already. Always keep your phone with you at arms length because you'll never know when someone will call. This morning while I was still in the bed, a staffing agency called me in response to a job listing of theirs on Craigslist. They're passing it on internally and hopefully I hear something back from them soon.

They want me to bring in my schedule availability. whats the most professional way to make this?
If you're unemployed and not going to school... your availability is open - you don't really need to bring anything.

If you got a job then bring your other job schedule - let them know the hours you can and can't work.

If you got school then bring in your school schedule and see where you can work around your hours.

UPDATE: I've been working at Whole Foods for 2 months now, this is my first official job so I've been trying NOT to **** it up. Some of the customers are really rude, and think they can treat you like that cause they got more money than you. It's whatever, I'm the one getting the last laugh at the end of the day. But I like my job and my co-workers, the pay is good too. Since my store is located just across the UM campus and an LA Fitness, dimes come here on the daily. So many MILFs go there too, if only they didn't have kids :wow:
Also a lot of the Heat personnel come here on the regular too, I've already seen Juwan Howard, Alonzo Mourning, and Erik Spoelstra.
The store manager already knows me on a first and last name basis, he also personally introduced me to the CEO of the company when he came to visit :wow: :pimp:
They see my work ethic and all the positive I bring to my department, I feel that good things are coming 8)

Got a job at a boba shop near campus.

yay

posted this 3 weeks and 3 days ago. prior to this I had no official/real job experience

*update*

background info:
manager was let go back in April or May
employees feel underpaid and unmotivated
employees don't like the owner

So I started off as a barista/cashier, but the owner said I looked too intimidating/scary. I started being a helper. I helped out the cook prep and clean. If it was busy out front, I'd help make drinks. Then I got trained to be a cook as well (which was just prepping and deep frying stuff mostly). Basically, I do everything and anything that needs to be done now. I've also been promoted to Shift Leader ($0.25 raise.) I work part-time(25-30 hours a week).

Well today, I came in before the store actually opened (cook was supposed to be there) to make buy/make a drink for myself. It was just the owner there. Long story short, the owner asks me if I wanted be Manager. :wow:

I just got my first real paycheck EVER less than a week ago, and now the owner is asking me to be a manger? Not gonna lie, I feel pretty good right now. There are people who have been working there months before me, and the owner asks me? :smokin

I told him I'll do it, but we gotta talk about it some more (I had to go to class).
:pimp: my man

Word to Mecks: The power of Craigslist is mad real.

Used one of the two cover letter templates and now I have an interview tomorrow for a Catering Sales Assistant :pimp:

I have limited experience in sales as it was mainly in retail environments but I'm a great communicator and I like the concept of the restaurant ( think Which wich but with burgers).

Thinking should I rock the suit since it's just a part time gig?
