I wouldn’t put any stock to that comment I only posted the tweet here because of the clip. But it’s little cuts like that which end up causing the death of the Lakers in these games.Crazy part is if Lebron is leaving because of that, we can find unlimited amounts of tape of him giving ZERO effort on defense and blaming another player....
According to zero Lakers fans.
Zero Lakers fans have said 'Coaching doesn't matter at all.'
Not one.
Truly hilarious that only one person continues to say that some of us believe that coaching doesn't matter when no one in this thread has said that....
Oh of course my comment was not directed at you...but the twitter world has wild narratives and they act like whatever player they support does nothing wrong ever....I wouldn’t put any stock to that comment I only posted the tweet here because of the clip. Attention to detail and focus for 48 minutes… not 46 minutes and 11 seconds.
All good in the hood man! I have been slowly but surely easing back off of social media and NBA twitter for those very reasons you listed. I actually like to talk hoops and between me (mostly) clowning around I feel like most of my takes are pretty reasonable… and I’m open to discussion on just about anything, except for DLo not sucking I draw the line in the sand thereOh of course my comment was not directed at you...but the twitter world has wild narratives and they act like whatever player they support does nothing wrong ever....
I get that P, but it’s not really a discussion it’s just mob mentality mostly saying it has to be one way. I’d like to see people thinking a little more critically about these situations man. I’m not even saying I’m right and they’re wrong, but can we even talk about it? Thats the part that’s wild to me…I mean, I think AD was just frustrated like Ham said but when a star player says those exact words it naturally leads to discussion centered on the coach and staff.
Then move away from the light, not towards it.I'm pretty close to being the one that says coaching doesn't matter.
Really close.
Then move away from the light, not towards it.
"Doesn't matter as much as people think" is fine.
"Doesn't matter to superstars, just the rotational guys"; cool.
"Zero impact on the game. Literally anyone in here could have coached Kobe to the same 5 championships Phil did, not even joking. It's a made-up position": don't do that.
"Steering wheels are useless. Everyone knows the motor & transmission do all the work. Get you a brand new engine and brand new transmission and all of a sudden the steering wheel did a fantastic job getting us home! Amazing!"And I pay Phil that respect, BUT.......Iono.
I find it EXTREMELY interesting that Phil joins grown up Mike and Scottie and wins 3 straight. Mike retires for 2 years, winning stops. Mike comes back, wins 3 straight.
Hmmmm
Kobe reaches puberty and Kobe/Shaq 3 peat. 04 happens, Shaq leaves, and Phil is first round fodder to MDA.
Pau shows up, and 3 straight Finals runs.
Hmmmm
And this is THEE GREATEST coach in NBA history, yet those "coincidences" sit right there.
BTW, he's the coach I mentioned that sat in his chair cleaning his glasses during 20-0 runs. And folks CHEERED that ****.
Nuggets score 2 buckets and the entire thread blows up begging for Timeouts.
Kobe worked out 24/7 when Phil was banging Jeanie. Coaching didn't have nothin to do with that.
Bron spends a million dollars a year on his body. The man went to 8 Finals in a row on two teams with 3 different coaches.
That 2011 run I mentioned earlier by the Mavs? Was that nuclear Dirk, or random middle aged white guy in a $2,000 suit? That "coach" knocked off Kobe, KD, and Bron all in the same postseason. He must have been super elite coach to pull that off, right?
One of these days we’re going to have a conversation about “adjustments” but not today please I’m exhausted
Watching this Heat game and seeing what Sponis doing w/o Jimmy just solidifies that COACHING matters
It's no coincidence that there were coaches immediately before Bulls Phil & Lakers Phil, and then Phil gets things right.
Option A: you get to pick whatever coach in the league you want, but when you're filling your roster, you cannot have any of the top 20 players in the league.
Option. B: you can pick 2 of the top 5 players in the league when you're building your roster, but your coach has to be one of the 5 worst coaches in the league (using player voting as the scale).
Obviously, I would choose Option B... but the point remains that when you have 2 of the top 5 players in the league AND a top coach in the league, that's how you get one guy with 3 different 3-peats, and then another back-to-back.
The steering wheel matters, even if you think it gets waaaaay too much credit. C CP1708 , there's a lotttttta gray area in between 'glorified' & 'useless'... and I've told you about absolute thinking before.
It's actually impressive how you ignore context that doesn't fit what you like.Agreed. I have considered that.
The way Phil turned Kobe from age 19 to age 20 was *chef's kiss*
Or how Boston and Detroit all aged out and Mike hit his prime.......
Again, Phil didn't win from 2002 to 2009. Was he not getting things right those years? He slipped on organizing practice? Or are there a million other variables that go into those years?
No.Just curiosity on my part.
No Google.....do you know who OKC's head coach is? Or Minnesota's coach?
Shaq called SVG a master of panic, Riles comes from upstairs and immediately wins a chip. Just Coincidence. Mike Brown replaces Phil...Kobe and Pau still there, yet no chip. Just a coincidence.
