**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

It's actually impressive hope you ignore context that doesn't fit what you like.
Coaching is not more important than roster construction, but that doesn't mean it's not important at ALL, dingus.
Steering wheel; remove it. Try to drive, even with a brand new engine & ******.
Steering wheel.

Funny thing is, I'm giving YEARS of context and examples that y'all ignoring the **** out of.

Watch the hype tonight over Spo and next week when he's eliminated nobody gonna say jack ****

(Spo, who hasn't won since he had prime Bron/Wade/Bosh, but I digress.)

I hear your steering wheel analogy.......you'll note, I don't run around telling folks how important a steering wheel is to a car...... :nerd:

Riley couldn't win in New York. Only when he had Magic/Kareem/Worthy or Shaq/Wade.

Phil got swept with Kobe/Pau the year before. (When they were a year younger)

And Mike Brown was coach of the year last year.....and missed the playoffs this year. Maybe he forgot how to coach?

For some reason you like to live in absolutes. Great coach =/= winning the chip every year. Just as great MVP level player means your going to win every year. There seems to be no area for nuance at all so I'll bow out for now and watch X-Men 97.

No.
I also don't know the name of the last Playmate. Must mean she's ugly.
#logic

No worries. I don't even.....do we have playmates still?

Just interested in who gon get that OKC credit here pretty soon. I'm excited to start reading his name soon how he "turned things around" and such.
Or how Minny has "turned the corner" and it will have nothing to do with the ascension of Ant.

I can see into the future and tell you how this is gonna go… the winning team made adjustments, the losing team did not.

Probably.

:wow:

Are you Miss Cleo???? :nerd:

Bron had a quote today about adjustments are easy to talk about but not always easy to enact.
What does Bron know, tho?

I'm watchin that too. :smokin

I'm not dealin in absolutes, that's a Ska phrase man.
League history shows MVP "level" guys or "elites" win every single year. But the coaches of those same teams rarely matter.

Jokic, or Mike Malone? C'mon.
Dirk, or Rick Carlisle?
Bron, or Ty Lue?

2004 is about the only year where the coach is more known than the #1 on the team.

Well....this is awkward.

Not saying at all that the hot shooting didnt win them the game. But towards the end when BOS was trying to claw back, you can see Spo was trying to do his best to keep his guys calm and directed. He called timeouts to make sure runs were prevented. He also recognized that the hot shooting is there, and needed to preserve the win. If only our coach knew DLo’s hot shooting isnt gonna be there for him gms 3-4 (5 at most since im expecting the sweep), he wouda made sure to seal a win (rest his aging players in high altitude, called TOs to prevent runs, draw plays w 57 sec left, etc). So yea, coaching def matters

The Heat also went away from their zone defense because it got destroyed in game one, went to a switch defense, limiting the Celtics three pointers (season average 42 vs tonight's 32).

Celtics also failed to press up on the Heat shooters leading to the threes (Tonight's 43 vs season average's 34).

We can argue all we want. But we all know this team has MANY holes and missed out on golden opportunities to draft and recruit the right pieces in FA. But we didnt, hence this team is average at best with really good 1-2 HOF/GOAT type players. Add to that the coach isnt really all that good and had the best seats in the house minus the popcorn

......

Come on guys. Y'all read this and think this how the NBA works?

He gave the ball to LEBRON JAMES man.

You know Denver didn't run any plays with 57 seconds, right?

So when Boston wins the series in 5, we say.....what????

They countered the Heat counter? The Heat couldn't shoot 50+% anymore? Jimmy was out etc etc.

I can't believe you of all people buys into this ****

Look, I don't expect the Heat to win the series, but they're going to they'll leave every stone unturned this series. And we shouldn't complain one bit if they do.

I don't think they should've have won vs the Celtics in 2020 or last year, but they did. *shrug*
