hmm ... from the article it seems that The Rockets pulled their first offer and restructured it .. since Lin did not sign the first offer and there was no other offer on the table besides the new one, he had no other choice but to sign the new offer. The problem in all of this is that because of Mike Woodson's comment, the media spun this new contract as being a money grab, when the facts are the only contract Lin had was the "poison" pill contract. Now I'm no contract expert but I'm guessing that this was essentially a max three year deal which is why the Knicks couldn't alter the terms of the deal

The Forbes article doesn't make sense because whatever he loses out on in local/national ad/commercial revenue, can be made up in international revenue. What can't be overlooked regardless of how "average" he might turn out to be at worst, is that the number 1 weakness of Asian hoops is guard play. Unlike Yuta Tabuse, Lin proves that you don't have to be a 7ft Asian basketball player to make it to the NBA and flourish, then the forgotten ingredient in all of this is that he's an Ivy League grad.
