Nike Doernbecher X freestyle collection 2013

I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get megged on foams. Looks like they're deeply looking into peoples orders

That Nike Revenue chart is funny. You can see in '98 how sales started to go down., could that because someone retires. Then they go back up early 2000's when someone cam back to the Wiz and then they level out after. Then when the Jordan brand focused more and more on retros the revenues start creeping back up until this year where you can see they have down to science with retros and lebrons and foams.

Yeah, one can clearly see the pattern.   They will continue to focus on their basketball business and push the retros some GR others QS.  With this younger breed of shoe collectors being introduced to the industry  there's no stopping Nike biz strategy for a while.
u guys do realize though that basketball and sportswear arent where they get the MOST profit right
those runners and plain old nikes that cheerleaders and grandmas/grandpas wear are where MOST of the revenue comes from
The retros DO sell
BUT they are a drop in the pot compared to the sales of nikes main demographic

The initial sale of the shoes is benefitting Doernbecher. I'm not focused on the retail sale. The RESALE that the people who exploited the release mechanism with will, at the end of the day, end up with more money benefitting them then the kids at Doernbecher. Do we really have to discuss why this is a problem?

Sorry to break it to you, but your argument makes no sense.

How much cash do you donate to charity each year? How many checks have you cut to the DB hospital yourself without any prospect of some garbage pseudo-limited release shoe attached to it?

You don't care about the kids - you want to get the sneaker at retail. This is classic self-interest masquerading as altruism.

Listen - who cares about the resale. One could make the same exact argument for every normal Retro that since they sell above retail down the line, somehow Nike should be recouping that and supplementing the criminally low wages they pay to those they exploit around the world to produce the items in the first place. But, none of that really matters. Once the primary transaction is done, Nike no longer has a role to play in the process.

The charity gets what it gets from the initial deal - which is all a sham, PR move, and marketing ploy from Nike in the first place (if they weren't "limited" those Xs would hit the outlets even in today's market that eats up nearly everything no matter how disgusting it is). So, everybody wins. Nike sells some sneakers that would rot otherwise because of their collab. The hospital gets some money and a whole lot of free press. And, a bunch of kids get to think they are doing something noble for sick kids by simply engaging in commodity fetish-ism. Everybody is winning AND everybody is being exploited. ...Unless you stay on the sidelines of course, because nobody in the process gets exploited if they don't essentially ask to be... except those workers mentioned earlier.

You care about the kids? Go cut a check, or go volunteer at the hospital. Buying luxury goods has nothing to do with helping people - resale market or none.

There's still not a single AJ model that has outsold the Air Monarch, right?...

Sportswear is Nike's largest category, then running, basketball, and then Retro's.

If u say so my dude
sportswear is compiled by nikes retros of course its gonna be its biggest category
it RARELY produces original shoes that are successful
also just because its the largest category doesnt mean its the most successful

yeah I used a prepaid walmart card but billing and shipping were the same as my other order because it had forgot to chance it and it was saved under the nike account I used
shouldn't matter if billing and shipping were the same. You and your brother could live in the same house, and both get the DB's and use two different credit or debit cards. Ultimately the shipping information will be the same.

which brings me back to my question in the belair 5 thread.

are purchases  limited to 1 pair per customer or 1 pair per household?

NTers become the biggest bunch of socialists when they can't get a pair of limited shoes these days or see others get multiples

me too, hate to play the hater card for those who were successful in getting through but oh well. I was able to catch a db5 restock, so I am hoping my luck is still there..

i struck out multiple times on the 5s but landed 2 of the Xs and got IXs and IIIs with ease. I might have to break down of the 5s if i can find them for a good price

seems like meg's not out to cancel orders for this release. or is it just for those who did the overnight shipping option?

Here is @DarrenRovell and I having a chat this morning about this. I will continue to tweet to media about this until Nike changes their release mechanism for both TLO and RSVP so that its not continually exploited by people making money off of sick children.
You think you can look at a picture and know exactly what is going on, but in reality you are complaining about the wrong thing.
1) Yes there are a ton of shoes sitting there.
2) Maybe $35000 would be a net profit if all pairs were purchased at retail AND they were owned by one person AND that person didn't keep any pairs or give pairs to friends

3) None of what I just mentioned happened.
4) The profits were marginal and split between people.
5) The shoes are 1 per person. Real people went and most picked up 2 pairs of shoes. What do you want nike to do? Ban friends and family from getting shoes together? Force people to by their personal shoe size?

What your asking Nike to do is cut out resellers because profits aren't going where Nike intended which means, you want NIKE to AUCTION them out the door. If they do that, whiny people like you who wont pay a dime over retail will NEVER get another exclusive shoe like this. I don't like the system either. But don't use others as a scapegoat for your problems. If you want it, you'll pay the price whether its retail, or time and effort, or a bot service, or sacrificing the entire family's saturday morning. Go donate money to the charity if your so worried. I'm positive you didn't.

If you're really serious about fairness. Tell the media that Nike is driving a hypemachine that causes violence and ruins kids self esteem who's parents won't buy them. Tell the media that Nike lets people know months in advance that a shoe is releasing but won't do the right thing and take preorders and fulfill all of them. Preorders worked for the PS4 and xbox1, why not for Nike.
