NT MLB Redraft Thread: May standings posted!

I think I'm the Braves so here goes....

Atlanta Braves

Pitching Rotation:
SP - Stephen Strasburg RHP
SP - Chris Archer RHP
SP - Clay Buchholz RHP
SP - Matt Garza RHP
SP - Ivan Nova RHP

The clear flaw with this rotation is that I have no lefties. This is something that completely slipped my mind and something I realized way too late in the game. Really wish I caught it earlier on and am kicking myself for it right now. With the injuries turned off, I think it works out to be a solid 5, though. True ace in Strasburg. Archer is a bit of a wild card for me. Buchholz will benefit from the no injuries as well. If only there was an illegal substance option too  And I'm happy with Garza and Nova on the back end. Again, really hate that I didn't add a lefty.

Bullpen:
RP - Daisuke Matsuzaka RHP - Long man
RP - Antonio Bastardo - LHP - Middle Relief
RP - John Axford - RHP - Middle Relief
RP - Al Alberquerque RHP - Set Up
CP - Koji Uehara - RHP - Closer

Pretty happy with this pen. Potential to be dominant on the back end between Al and Koji. One regret was not grabbing a lefty specialist. I was actually tracking this along the way but just never was able to get my guy.

Positional (Bats):
C - Dioner Navarro S
1B - Maikel Franco R
2B - Brock Holt L
3B - Nolan Arenado R
SS - Xander Bogaerts R
OF - Bryce Harper L
OF - Rusney Castillo R
OF - Carl Crawford L
IF - Marco Scutaro R
UTIL - Eduardo Nunez R
C/1B - Blake Swihart S
1B/OF - Mitch Moreland L
OF - Brandon Guyer R
OF - Nolan Reimold R
OF - Nolan Reimold R

Line Up Versus RHP
1. LF Carl Crawford L
2. 3B Nolan Arenado R
3. RF Bryce Harper L
4. CF Rusney Castillo R
5. 2B Brock Holt L
6. SS Xander Bogaerts R
7. DH Mitch Moreland L
8. C Dioner Navarro S
9. 1B Maikel Franco R

Line Up Versus LHP
1. LF Carl Crawford L
2. 3B Nolan Arenado R
3. RF Bryce Harper L
4. CF Rusney Castillo R
5. 2B Brock Holt L
6. SS Xander Bogaerts R
7. C Dioner Navarro S
8. DH Brandon Guyer R
9. 1B Maikel Franco R

Positionally and lineup wise, good balance with lefties and righties. Not a ton of speed so I don't expect to be stealing tons of bags. Didn't add as much power as I would have liked, however I do think Harper and Castillo can anchor this thing well. Arenado is a pick I love. My favorite pick after Harper. I think the two hole might be a little wasteful, but I can always bump everyone down a spot and move Holt to the two hole. Actually, P proshares is that a possibility? Can we do a couple look ins during the season to see if we need to make adjustments? It'd obviously be a lot more work so I completely get it if that's not an option. Just wondering. Moving down the line up, Castillo will provide great protection for Harper and force pitchers to pitch him honest. Holt is a solid option at five or at two IMO. Xander and the development of his bat will be a wild card, but I like him there as well as switch hitting Navarro right after. The last two spots I consider anything I get there a bonus.

Overall, I like the youth with this squad (possibly too youthful at this stage). Potential to develop into a solid team in a couple years. I think right now as it stands, would be a middle of the pack team. Maybe sneak into a WC if everything gels.

Writing up that brief little report was more fun that I imagined it would be

I really enjoy reading everything you write on these forums fam, the knowledge you have is amazing.

i got a laugh out of the NHL thread yesterday from you

HUUUUMMMP DAY!

Pittsburgh Rouges

Starting Rotation

David Price LHP
Kyle Gibson RHP
Jose Quintana LHP
Jesse Chavez RHP
Scott Kazmir LHP

Starting at the bottom of the draft (22nd) like most I built my roster with pitching. I accrued the 3 left arms that I really wanted in Price, Quintana, and Kazmir. Added 2 righty's in a young Gibson and a veteran in Chavez, to balance out my lefty/righty rotation.

Bullpen

Tsuyoshi Wada LHP
David Carpenter RHP
T.J. House LHP
Chase Anderson RHP
Tyler Glasnow RHP

Bullpen is relatively solid, figured in case one of my starters went down I'd have some decent arms in the wings but with injuries turned off the pen might get little to no use. I only drafted one minor league prospect in Glasnow and was hoping to ease him into a mid reliever/closer type role, to utilize that FB.

Closer
Hector Rondon

One of the better closers this year, and one of 3 of my homer (Cubs) picks.

Fielding

C - Welington Castillo
1B - Brandon Moss
2B - Neil Walker
SS - J.J. Hardy
3B - Trevor Plouffe
RF - Jayson Werth
CF - Curtis Granderson
LF - Michael Saunders

Bench

C/DH - Brian McCann
SS - Yunel Escobar
OF/1B/3B - Eric Campbell
OF - Chris Denorfia
3B - Danny Valencia
2B - Eric Sogard

Once again I wanted to protect myself from injuries by basically having every position covered, and with the ability to shift players to different positions.

Batting Order

VS RHP
1- Walker B
2 - Werth R
3 - Moss L
4 - McCann L
5 - Granderson L
6 - Hardy R
7 - Plouffe R
8 - Saunders L
9 - Castillo R

VS LHP
1 - Walker B
2 - Moss L
3 - Werth R
4 - McCann L
5 - Hardy R
6 - Grandson L
7 - Plouffe R
8 - Castillo R
9 - Saunders L

While I have no clear cut power hitter, my line up is pretty well balanced with righty/lefty batters. While Walker may not be the best switch hitter he can definitely lead off from either side. Even with J.J. Hardy's dramatic power drop off, my 1-6 batters were good for 116 HR's and all batted for a pretty good average.

Fangraphs WAR projections for next year are out, and in terms of where they rank prospects that might be coming up, they have Bryant #1, Sano #2, and Gallo #5. :nerd: :pimp:

Okay.

I'll be setting up FF's lineup and rotation but I'll be putting in here to make sure everyone is okay with it.

@a55a5in11 & C CP1708 I have your lineups. Are you good with the way your rotations and bullpens are set in the team post?

I still need the below rotations, bullpens, defense and lineups by Friday at midnight ET or I'll just set them up for you. You can trust me

There's 3 spots for middle relief, 3 for long relief, 2 for set up and 1 for closer.

I'll have to double check, I think it's 3 MR but it might be 4.

Thanks boys.

I pretty much drafted my team the way they needed to be set. IE, relievers, starting rotation, etc.

And then you saw how my lineup, defensive adjustments would be set. If you need something more specific from me, let me know and I'll get it to you.

Mine is going to be super basic. Busy with the move, and need to setup the Secret Santa thread for General.

That's my bad man, I forgot you were moving. I'll give you the weekend if you need it bud.

CP, you're good I read your write up a few times  I just wanted to make sure I was ordering the pitchers correctly.

@Proshares, I sent you a PM

- Pitching wins in baseball, so my main objective was to build a strong rotation. All 5 of my starters have been all stars and 4 out of the 5 have received Cy Young votes.

- The run on closers and teams drafting multiple closers surprised me, so my strategy with the bullpen was to find veterans with solid track records who fell through the cracks. I might not be loaded with dominant arms arms, but I feel my pen is pretty solid from top to bottom.

- My offensive strategy was basically the same as for my bullpen: Find solid veterans who fell through the cracks. I feel like I basically got steals on all my offensive players relative to their draft spots.

- Since this is a video game simulation, I def built to win now and did not worry about taking prospects or put an emphasis on young players.

One thing that I just noticed that really bothered me is that there are quite a few teams with only 1 catcher
