Copped these the other day.

Hi everyone, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. Not too sure if there is another thread for this, but I saw a few people customizing their NBs, thought I could ask here.

To try and make a long story short, I'm completely new to suede/leather painting and dying, and I've never used an Angelus product before.

I do not have a pair of New Balances, but I would love to get into them. As of late, I've been a real fan of the Air Max 1 Lunar, combining my favorite Air Max shoe with my favorite midsole.

However, I've been playing around a bit on Nike ID, and I'm very interested in emulating two NB colorways of the 1500: The "Purple Devil" and the "Green Finals".

These two were roughly made using Photoshop, as well as the available colors to select on Nike ID. I am well aware that the colors are not exactly the same.

My question for you guys who have experience when it comes to painting/dying, what is the ideal route to take when it comes to going this route?

I understand that depending on the color of the suede/mesh, it will affect how the dyes and paints appear colorwise. I'm assuming that lighter colors are ideal, as the Angelus product won't change as much?

While all white is an option in leather, suede does not have a white color available, and I would like to stay true to the inspirations, which have a lot of suede throughout the shoes.

These were the closest I could get using the Nike ID options to the shoes.

Should I use leather paint or suede dye for the mesh?

Also, there is no real "Green Finals" type of color in a suede dye, has everyone have experience using regular leather paint on suede?

This is the color I intend to use for the Green Finals:

This is what I intend to use for the Purple Devils:

It's alright if the colors are somewhat off, I just want to have the same effect. What I really want to know is what material and color I should start with on Nike ID, and what kind of Angelus (or other brand if there are more out there) should I use to make these?

I appreciate any help you guys can give me.

When pics of nike air max are posted with new balance colorways in the new balance thread u lnow this thread is dying slowly. Seems weird seeing a air max in the nb thread

Damn when I was a youth many moons ago it was all about Infrared, Ultramarine, Persian, Neon, think it really sets the tone for Nike when people are not satisfied with the colour ways they are offering and are looking to put NB colours on Nike silhouettes. Nike’s dead homey just about everyone has better quality than them these days and Adidas seems to be ramping up its performance division for a new round of Tech wars…

Still perhaps you should try the NB ID and pop some of Nikes more attractive colour ups on some high quality made in the USA silhouettes… has anyone done that?

Im not here to create controversy or negativity in any way, im here simply to ask a question about the dying/painting process of a shoe. I figured I would ask here because some members have posted pictures of their personal pairs they have dyed, and I would like to learn to do the same.

DankCustoms has already done what I am attempting to do (minus replacing the swoosh).

Google doesnt exactly help, and the Angelus website isnt very clear on how to color mesh and/or how to treat the suede.

Ah don't worry player have you tried looking in the forum for a customization thread, that may well be your best bet?

Anyone else have that problem with their 998s where the insole gets too thing after a long wear and starts hurting the ball of your foot?

I love the pissing matches in here, in a 100% good way, I literally scroll through past pages to look for nothing but heat. Thank you to all who contribute daily. I love this forum. I will post my $108 shipped Pebble Blues when I get home. Got to love eBay.

NB has a promotion on custom 574s and 993s, once you add them to cart $10 is automatically taken off (good until 8/30)

Not much savings, my total would still be $170 after tax and shipping
