actually if you look at the top of his head is also in focus ..

like I stated the DoF on a 1.2 is crazy thats why his eyes and nose are not in focus cause its closer than the neck and left ear . I could of have easilyhidding that by posting a smaller picture but I like to show everything the way it is ..

here's another picture so you can see the DOF

Damn...that was real horse! I though it was stuffed at first.

Alright......anyone have the Tokina ultra wide 11-16mm? This is probably the next lens I am getting since I can't afford the Nikkor 14-24mm but for somereason, the Nikkor one seems a lot wider. I've been on Pixal-Peeper and have checked photos but I am just wondering if anyone can share their opinions onthe Tokina.

And does anyone have the Nikkor 14-24mm? Every photo I see, they just looks so dope....if you are into that wide shot like I am.

Examples and all used full frame Nikons...(not my photos)

I was using a G10, It was actually in program mode, so it chose the shutter speed in order to expose correctly. Just chose a slightly long shutterspeed, and keep the camera very steady. ISO 400 should be good, with the lens wide open (f/3.5)

Also, check out this awesome short film shot with a D90. Amazing.

^^^^You can really tell it was shot with a D90. Frame rate is so choppy all the time.....but that is just good editing, shots, sounds and story. I've seensome epic videos with people shooting out of a point and shoot. Pretty cool vid though....and I hate to say it but it would have looked better if it was shotwith the Mark 2.

Speaking of shooting with DSLRs.....D-Nice shoots a lot of hip-hop docs and he does it all with the Mark2. Some of his footage with the DSLR and the lens looksgreat with the bokeh:

Agreed. Canon definitely has the upper hand with video mode. I'm pretty sure even the 500D / T1i can beat the D90 in the video mode, its 720pat 30fps, and it just looks much more fluid and smooth since its using .MOV H.264 compression instead of .MJPEG

I should note though, that a few scenes from the D90 short film were shot via the 4.5fps @ 2mp continuous shooting on the D90 and edited to llok like slo-moshots. Also the guy was using the 50mm f/1.4 which has no Image stabilization, hence the jerky video.

Any sugg. on an external hard drive to back up photos or actually use as the main storage location for photos (compatible with a Mac)... photos are beginningto take up lots of space on my internal hard drive.

I have two Toshiba external hard drive, I use for other data w/ a Windows PC but had trouble when trying to move large files from my Mac to those HD. Ididn't troubleshoot because I didn't want to damage the data on the those hard drives and besides I'm leaning towards having a dedicated externaljust for photos (and videos maybe). Most likely will be purchasing from Best Buy... but will consider other retailers. What do you use?

Awesome pics man.

Did you use an external flash? How did u expose the shot so the girl's face is clear while the light (sun) is coming from behind her? I always findbacklighting tricky when using natural light..
