In some of the shots with the white background, I had to clone out the door, and it looks horrible, I'll takePS tips on that too. thanks for looking

just got my canon rebel xt in the mail an hour ago. messed around and shot some random stuff in the house.

what are some ways to help with camera shake?

^^^Tripod. I'm assuming you're shooting in Auto or P, indoor and dim lighting. If so, your shutter is probably staying open a little longer so it canenough light. If you're hand holding the camera, you'll get blurry pictures. Best way to resolve this is a tripod. Also, some of the newer lenses havevibration reduction features which will offset some of that shake. Just get a cheap tripod ($20) from your local Ritz Camera.

Just picked up a used Nikon 24-85mm lens.....the sharpness kills that of the 18-55mm kit lenses. Here's a pic I just took at 50mm:

i was on the "Av" mode, i was watching a cameralabs.com video where the guy explains how to blur the background of the subject. i lowered theaperture to 5.6 for those close up shots.

Jaw Knee, I'm currently shooting with a Konica Minolta Maxxum 50 SLR and a 28mm-100mm lens, is there a better lens that you suggest? or keep shooting withwhat I have now?? I'm starting to take this a lot more seriously...anybody can respond, thanks

First time posting in here and this pic was taken way back in April 07. Taken with a P&S Canon SD750. I've seriously been considering getting a CanonXTi but don't really feel like dropping the cash right now. Not too bad a pic and thought i'd share. Keep up the great pics guys.

Not at all. You can start taking amazing pictures right away in auto mode. and as you get used to it, start using manual mode.

Only difference between D40 AND D40 really is the megapixels, right? I just looked it up, and found you can print pro quality 11 x 14 pics w/ 6 megapixels, soI guess the upgrade to D40x isn't really necessary when trying to decide between the two?
