The donors won't go anywhere as long as Trump keeps it up though, just look at all the flexing Soros has been doing since he got elected...

In all seriousness ,I still doubt the money's gonna disappear all of a sudden while Il Douche guts the country and resets all the progress made in recent years. I don't see why it's a big concern right now either given how far record-setting fundraising got them last time around

@NomikiKonst: Some DNC members advocating that they need corporate lobbyist $, can't afford to lose it. Yet Dems have more $ than ever & still lost 1k+ seats.

Damn, not something encouraging to hear when they're voting on the DNC chair later  :smh:. I'm pretty certain that the donors and their $ will be there regardless as long as Trump continues implementing his agenda, the debate should be centered about trying to reconnect with the disillusioned Dem voters who sat it out or went 3rd party. Not some misguided attempt at wooing in the elusive "moderates" who seem to be rather susceptible to WS rhetoric under the guise of economic alleviation.

maybe...but as i understand it, the combination of gerrymandering & the split between large urban centers/cities & other parts of the country in demographics-which presumably isn't going to get better as the trend is more people moving to cities rather than moving out of cities to those other parts of the country-is also at play...it isn't difficult to foresee if that basic trend continues how democrats will continue to lose seats despite having larger coffers...

Damn. Young blood. God bless your heart. Maybe one day you can still be a nurse yet?
Hopefully but I'm not counting on it. It's a pretty physically demanding job and judging by the progression of my illness and my current condition I'm not expecting much. Was it you in this thread who is a nurse? My muscles have trouble with simple activity like showering, walking, making my bed, ... hence why I got my statute of disability last December.

It's been over 3 years now and doctors are still working on finding a diagnosis. Prior to a special unit at the Ghent university hospital picking up my case in October 2015 there was little to no progress despite countless tests. The team working on my case since then is a special project from the Ghent university hospital. If you've ever watched House MD it's pretty much exactly what they do. They only take a select number of cases that are particularly complex and where many other specialists have failed to confirm a diagnosis. You can't contact them directly, a specialist must refer the case to the team and they then review if they will take the case. They have a great reputation and have helped many patients struggling for years with no answers. They've made more progress in the first 3 months than all the specialists in the years before them. The problem was that even though my symptoms are severe, I appear to be in great health on standard testing. The abnormalities they have discovered were found through very specific testing for certain substances and hormones.

On my first appointment with that team back in 2015 they ordered a specific blood test after our introduction appointment and not long after I got home they called me to come back to the hospital asap because they discovered a significant abnormality in my body.

Turned out my carnitine was very low and I had an elevated level of CK in my blood roughly 70 times a normal amount.

Carnitine is a substance that is necessary in providing energy to the muscles, CK is a substance in the body that indicates muscle wasting. My CPK levels were so high they initially thought something went wrong during the testing so they called me back to do another test asap, which gave the same result. My diet was thoroughly examined and ruled out as a possible cause. They ordered a muscle biopsy which showed some borderline carnitine abnormalities but nothing significant. It turned out that the very low carnitine and elevated CK were also transient in nature; I didn't have a constant carnitine deficiency but rather it was very inconsistent. I'd have frequent blood testing and my carnitine and CK would be perfectly normal some times and other times had similar results as the first test that showed the abnormality. This led them to do a DNA test for CPA-2 deficiency, a rare genetic carnitine disorder. The test turned out to be negative. They gave me carnitine supplements and while I did notice some minor improvement I still had all of my major symptoms and they progressively got worse.

Fast forwarding to more recently, they later discovered that 2 of my hormones were consistently extremely low; cortisol (also known as the "stress hormone") and testosterone. My testosterone levels have been tested ranging from a value of just over 200 to the low 100s. My cortisol was tested a few times and ranged from 1.2 to 1.5. For reference, the hormone specialists said for a male of my age they would like to see a testosterone value of ~800 and a cortisol value of 10. So at most I only have 25% of normal testosterone values and a mere 15% of normal cortisol values.

This came to a surprise to the team as well because normally my symptoms pointed in different directions of disorders (neurological and hormonal) and they expected to see a far too high cortisol value on the tests. Stress testing showed that I can produce a normal amount of testosterone when they artificially trigger the body to produce a sudden boost in testosterone but my cortisol didn't. They lowered my blood sugar to induce hypoglycemia, which would normally trigger a big emergency boost in cortisol but my value only bumped up to 3.2, still only a third of a normal standard value.

Once again, these results kind of puzzled them because they can't explain my base testosterone levels being so low despite the stress test showing I can produce a normal amount when the body is artificially triggered. Yet my cortisol production barely works even when the body is in a state of emergency that would normally produce a huge boost.

Cortisol is produced in the pituitary gland in the brain so I had a brain MRI but that showed no abnormalities besides a tiny 3mm cyst on the pituitary gland that was too small to be significant. My brain cyst in the back of my brain I was born with has grown a bit but is not in an area that would trigger my symptoms and has no effect on my functioning. It only needs to be monitored occasionally to make sure it doesn't grow to the point of having an effect.

Once again, those results came as a surprise to the team because it only provides more questions than answers. Which is what they're working on now. At the moment they're a bit stuck and are trying to figure out how so many different symptoms that point in different directions of disorders are occuring at the same time and why my hormone values and test results don't seem to add up with what they've encountered in other similar cases.

Currently, geneticists are examining my entire DNA for any genes that are missing or that I have too many of.

They have also started a hormone treatment to see if my condition improves as a result. If I respond well to the treatment, that will give them a better idea of the next step towards a diagnosis.

I have to take hydrocortison daily to boost my cortisol and inject myself twice a week with Pregnyl to boost my testosterone. I also got a medical emergency card that I have to keep on me whenever I'm in public. If I catch a significant fever, vomit, ... or get in a very stressful situation such as an accident I must immediately go to the ER for a cortisol injection.

I'm a little over a month into the hormone treatment and I believe the cortisol is having a noticeable impact. The testosterone would take another month or 2 to take effect so it has to be the cortisol that has improved my condition a bit. My upper body muscles can handle significantly more activity now and I've been giving the recommendation to start doing some bodyweight or low weight exercises to increase my strength and muscles again. I can only exercise for a stretch of 5-10 minutes at most but I can just spread out my exercises and it has been going pretty well. For whatever reason my legs didn't get the memo though, they still hurt 24/7 and the amount of activity my legs can handle has not increased along with my upper body muscles.

Physical activity also aggravates my symptoms, particularly the chronic pain in my lower legs, but I feel like that has definitely improved a lot as well. Normally something like a walking to the local store or going to the bar with friends would result in soreness from head to toe for the next 5-7 days and god awful increased chronic leg pains, that seems to be much better now. My upper body is much less sore and the aggravated pain is a lot more bearable now.

So that's at least some progress

The muscle weakness and aggravated symptoms from physical activity is why I can't really do much with my life at the moment besides waiting for a diagnosis and for my condition to improve. When your leg muscles can only handle a minimal amount of activity and they hurt every second of each day, which is aggravated by physical activity on top of that, there's not much you can do. And while my upper body has improved it's still a long way from being able to comfortably perform activities like showering and small household tasks.

The issue is not if the money will be there, it is if the Dems will take it, how much will they take, and what will it be used for (state parties or consultants).

The High Sparrow vilified it so much that it has jammed the Dems up. And the DNC chair vote is gonna be a **** show if Ellison doesn't win, partly because the Faith Militant will think it is another insult to them.

Belgium Belgium , good to hear you've been making some progress and the doctors are figuring some of it out. I would guess it's either a rare genetic thing or an abnormal growth that's interfering with some hormonal function, and it sounds like they're converging on a diagnosis. It could be mitochondrial too but the hormonal changes don't seem to fit. Any family history of this?

Also -- you must be severely deconditioned from inactivity over the years, so don't be discouraged if progress is slow right now.

Best of luck.

now we know who is pulling all the strings! he's setting up 2020 for a **** takeover. Ben Bassoon, Steve Harvey, and more in office, but the real shot-caller will be the one and only Herman Cain, like the black Bannon. #mychiefstrategistisblack

That would be amazing. Herman Da Berman Cain is what I hope Barson will be.
