Black Gum 1 toe box leather stiff? Leather looks tough but creases make it look soft

I can't recall. But it's just different. The leather felt really cheap it was sad. I won't keep a shoe if the leather is stiff like that np matter how sick the cw is. I got rid of alot of J's that released around that time.

Does anyone know how the quality on these remastered J's are compared to OG's/first retro's? At a $220+tax price I'm hoping we got some good quality leather and craftsmanship is on point.
