**The Official Ralph Lauren Polo Thread**

Can any1 give me an estimate for how low bear polos usually go? Specifically the solid mesh ones with the embroidered bear on the left side. Thanks.

This done BEEN my way backwards, forward, and too the side since they invented the concept of "the store". Welcome aboard! Now you can sit back and watch other cats kill money just to say "first!"

And that way, I DO feel better when I do have to get froggy and JUMP. Just took a head knock well over retail on Etsy last night for this;

Why? Because my XL fit mad short, Danny Devito cut! I moved it, and after 8 months of searching and waiting for an XXL to pop up, I know with certainty this was the only, and I mean ONLY XXL left out there not sitting unlisted in someones closet. (And now I know that the white retro was truly limited. Only one XL I know out there on internets. Several S-L) Talked dude off the ledge quite a bit, cause this thing was just sitting for a year at his ask. I know it was a good cop because I feel relieved after the purchase. I'm only out there huntin' certain big game.
 
BTW, on that sale note, East Dane just threw up the dope 40% sale free shipping. All I wanted was a second pair of Hi Tech socks and wasn't budging until they did. They blinked first. Go ye forth, and SAVE!
 
Came across this great post on IG from thepoloarchive by way of urbanryders_japan.

It shows several great original Japanese advertisements for the Polo Stadium Collection from 1992/93. The most interesting ad shows the Stadium Pullover at 75% off, a price drop from $434 to $113 in today's dollars.

This made me question how desirable the O.G. Polo Stadium Collection actally was outside of NY during the initial launch. This is Japan, so I could understand how high-priced, USA themed clothing would be heavily discounted before people purchased it. Even in major U.S. cities outside of NY, the Stadium Collection, and Snow Beach Collections sat on department store shelves until they were sold wholesale to Burlington, Marshall's, and other discount chain stores to offered to the more budget conscious shoppers. You would think that clothing, who's final bow was to be discounted so drastically, would never be desired again. To me, this really shows how Influential the LoLifes, and other Polo loyal crews that were in pushing this brand so far forward, that RL is still making hundreds of millions of the same clothing today.
Whether you wish you time travel and buy the store out, or you pull something more significant of from this ad, it makes for great conversation.

That’s the beauty of RL, there’s a lane for everyone.

90s PS defined such a huge portion of my life comin up, don’t think I’ll ever not rock it. Once the Rack game caught up to the appetite, around ‘94, it was a wrap!

Now It’s mostly about them nostalgia feels lol

Dope. The retro for that pull over was done nicely too. The outlets and all these discount spots were full of all these bear sweaters and stadiums pieces back in the day. Remember burlington by chambers st had a bunch of ski 92 gooses. There were so many dope lines out that people werent feenin for any particular item. If you tried to buy everything youd go broke.

You name the power piece, (nowadays referred to as a "grail"), and I can remember seeing it on the rack, back then, during the drop, and either;

a) walking right by it, or

b) jockin' but couldn't afford it, or

c) jockin' it, but decided to spread that amount of money around over several plainer Ralphy/Tommy/Nautica items, or

d) stoppin' to study the piece and concluding it intriguing but way too loud/busy/downright ugly for me .personally.

Since those early 90's years were my freshman/sophomore/Junior years in college, mostly B) applied.

That leads to C): Had to get fresh for everyday, not just kill it one time at a party, or (the ultimate crime), be that guy on campus running that one live piece into the ground 2, 3 times per week. On a small campus, you knew when that guy or girl only had that ONE joint going for 'em. And I was stocking milk at Kroger to work my way through school, so I didn't come from old money or nothin', so I had to maximize my dollar. Wound up in a lot of classic solid white or blue Polo Sport, ( Polo shirt, T shirt, paper jacket, Lo hat, layered out, and cats was like, "ole boy dipped"). Occasional sprinkle in a fire *** rugby at the party, copped Friday, left tags in it, killed it at the party - Monday - return it! LOL! How it was back then.

You could apply D) to anything from the snow beach line, things like the casino, a LOT of the big brashy pieces. For where I was at at the time, it was
way too loud/busy (Casino type stuff) or downright ugly for me personally (Snow beach, cold wave, ect). I remember seein' Cold Wave and Snow Beach hats up in TJ Maxx.

I've never owned any and I don't plan to, but I love the feeling that I get when I seeing this stuff. It's a time machine that takes me right back to my teenage years, and I don't have to spend one dime to take that trip.

So true. This stuff would sit in department stores, and show up a year later being worn by someone that saved an entire year to be able to buy it at a discount. It would trigger everyone else that forgot about these items to rush to and crowd the discount stores on the same weekend trying to find one.

All so true. It's incredible how much of this stuff was just there, right in front of us at discount. And one of criteria for dressing well in school was maintaining that 1 week minimum of Fresh Outfits head to toe. One growth spurt could ruin your entire semester.
