The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

During last year’s Paris Games Week, Bandai Namco has confirmed that Tekken 7, the latest entry of its popular fighting game series, is going to be released sometime during 2016 on home systems. The fact that the Xbox One system hasn’t been mentioned in the official press seemed to hint that the game will eventually be released exclusively on PlayStation 4, and what a member of the team has recently revealed suggests that this is somewhat likely.

In a new Tekken 7 Fated Retribution showcasing event held during last weekend’s Final Round, Bandai Namco’s Michael Murray has talked about the game, its possible release date, game mechanics and more. While discussing the game, Mr. Murray sounds unsure about platforms, mentioning that they have had some behind the scene talks with Sony, with more to be announced at a later time. He was also not referring to the game’s PlayStation VR exclusive content, which has been revealed a while back, so it’s definitely something entirely new. Ultimately, it will be up to management if the game will also be released on Xbox One, as the team would love to have the game on Microsoft’s console. You can hear more about the matter by going at around the 18:20 mark of the video below.

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution has received more gameplay footage a few weeks ago, showcasing the Street Fighter series guest character Akuma. The character is the only guest character the team has currently planned, as series creator Katsuhiro Harada doesn’t like that much due to the fact that they disrupt the Tekken’s world balance. Akuma, however, fitted right in, so the team was happy about his inclusion.

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution will be released on a yet to be confirmed release date on home systems. We will let you know about the PlayStation 4 exclusivity as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest news.

Oh Oh

Not comparing, just in general. Sony is pricing this as its own entity. Is PSVR a console? Should it be priced as one? It doesn't even come with PS Move or Camera, smfh.

Not a console but Sony is treating it as a new platform which makes sense since it's a completely new way to play. It's also getting 50 games at launch.

As for the price, like Swendro said, it's new tech so it'll be expensive because there's a lot of custom components. VR is also something you can't cheapen out with because it needs good PR more than anything else since you don't know how it is till you experience it.
It'll get cheaper especially if it's succesful out of the gate.

It doesn't come with the move or camera because some people have those already and the DS4 also works with the lightbar.

I'll probably invest in a PSVR a year after it releases.
Or two. At the pace this generation is moving with game releases, it's going to be awhile before anything seriously sparks my interest. Wish I didn't sell my PS3 when buying the 4, I jumped the gun on next gen and missed a ton from last gen since I was on 360 most of it. Lost odyssey was worth it though.

Star Ocean V confirmed for Summer 2016 here in NA. FF XV coming in September. The fact that I don't have as much time to play as I'd like, I'm set on JRPGs. I'll probably put in well over 100 hours on both.

...and get 6 trophies in Star Ocean.

That game was brutal for trophies. Great news though, I loved Last Hope and was hoping this would drop this year.

Star Ocean may not be day one due to my entire summer being taken up by family/vacations/weddings. I just hope it doesnt turn into Xillia 2, which is still on my shelf in plastic wrap.

I tried to to do the 1000 GS on 360 and eventually gave up. I will say it was my favorite RPG last gen. I played and beat it 3 times. The second and third playthrough were about a week apart. Definitely a day one for me.

Bully and Manhunt (PS2 Classics) stealth released on PS4 in EU. I'd assume they'll release here in NA tomorrow.

you're paying for something that will last more than 1 gen, its not only going to work with ps4
I was thinking about this actually.

By the time the PS5 comes out, VR tech would have matured some more and so the specs of the headset might become outdated.
The FOVE headset has eye tracking and Sony already built their own eye tracking tech and demoed it in inFAMOUS SS.

I expect the next headset to have in built eye tracking , higher res screen and a better camera for tracking.

Either that or they use the same headset and accessories for the PS5 which would be much cheaper then for everyone to get and there would still be a jump in quality since it's the console that does all the rendering for the game.

Only concern i have is if the psvr causes motion sickness.

Any articles? iYen?

From what I've read it depends on the person and the game and for those who do get it initially, it becomes better over time so you should ease yourself into VR.

VR has always been a thing but the reason for it making a comeback is because the tech now is good enough to combat a lot of the initial problems especially motion sickness or VR sickness as they call it. Low latency screens, better tracking and high frame rate means you won't get sick from just looking around since what you see is keeping up with the movements that you're making.

It's when your senses are not in agreement that you get the sickness.

That's why a lot if not most of the VR games are ones where you're in a cockpit of a mech or ship or in a car.
Because you're in something that is moving there's no sensory conflict in your brain so those are easier to simulate in VR.
Walking is much harder though, because you see that you're walking in the VR world but you're standing still IRL and that causes conflict which leads to the symptoms.

I think most people will be fine but no doubt it would cause motion sickness for some, especially if you spend a long time with it on.

Sucks for Evo. Ehhh they really didn't make anything special IMO. Storm? Blah. Drive Club was cool but riddled with bugs and shotty release date/updates.

$400 for PSVR is OD.

Compared to the other 2 headsets, i think it's a good price.

It comes with 2 ps move controllers, ps eye camera and a game for $500.
Yikes.

I'll wait. Games are good in the current spec.

Had no problems with Driveclub apart from the launch and even then it was just online play, offline was fine.

The season pass was great as well. Tons of content

Was looking forward to this

I only played Motorstorm Apocalypse on PS3 and RC on Vita and I loved them both but the writing was on the wall after the first round of layoffs.

It's cut throat out there these days.
